A (fixed) update to my key locking issues!

Post by J1MMCD »

Fixed is a bit of a cheat actually.
Turns out it wasn’t broken in the first place.

Went to the car today and battery had gone totally flat, couldn’t open with the fob and my blade wasn’t working as usual.
Tried to manually open bonnet but that didn’t work either so was starting to fret….

Did some more googling and came across a post on another forum about a CC in a similar situation and had RAC out to it, turns out the key blade wasn’t being turned enough to open!

If you look at your manual lock when you go left to close it turns a full 90 degrees til it’s flat but when mine was turning to the right to open it was only going to about 80 degrees. There is significant resistance at this point and feels like the key will snap if turned more but that’s exactly what it needs.
Turn it to 90 degrees and the door opens every time!!

Doing that I have one of my spare key fobs back to working the car but for some reason the other one that I was using still won’t work as remote.

For now though, I’m happy…. Even if I do need a new battery <sigh>
