I was thinking of something to experiment with and help out the club and I suddenly thought of Location lists for VAG COM users.

I dont know whether its something anybody else might be interested in - but my idea was to collate a definitive list for everyones benefit. Of course it could be expanded and whats running at the moment is only a the net result of an evenings work whilst watching TV but I think the basic idea is a solid one.

People fancy taking a look and possibly adding there details so I have something with a bit more data to work with?

Its usable now and I'll build extra functionality as and when necessary.

As a sort of wish list though the kinds of things that will be done are:
add a comments part
additional service types (businesses for example)
build additional code

If anyone else likes it - feel free to add extra wishes

Woops! sorry!

It works now (at least the add a location part)

The front page search part doesn't work properly still - I'm working on it at the moment. - EDIT: Search now works on front page as well

One new feature is different colour markers for different services:
Red for Vag-Com providers
Green for Vag-Tacho Providers
Blue for both

if it was just for VAG COM then i personally wouldnt charge for using the servie,it would be nice to meet up with other passat owners and share information with each other but everyone to themselves,whatever the price,it will still be cheaper than a dealer diagnostic!

fantastic idea! I was looking at buying VAG-COM myself as I need to reset the airbag light on my B5. from this locator I can see there's someone 2 minutes down the road from me with it!

I'm one of the vagcomless keenly looking for my nearest balloon on the map, and Rob looks to only be about 1/2" away

No problems - theres a few minutes where the map updates to improve web page loading speed (read: caching)

Sorry about slow progress - I'm going back over the original code to build a MySQL class to make my database extraction routines a lot less top heavy and more efficient - I've also built a contact form and the beginnings of a modify form so you can either modify or remove your details from the database.

Expect some extra changes over the next few days.

Also not sure on the name - I'm vain - it needs a good name not just "VagComList" or "Vag Com Locator Application" :lol:
