Have you tried running output tests on the clocks? Vcds, module 17, output tests, and select the fuel gage and temperature gage just to be sure clocks are working..

Re: white clocks problem
Check out the thread 4 below yours, I got similar issue  Did you use a converter to fit your clocks? EDIT check the follow thread, page 2, cfcorp, and jaraz have handy diagrams. For me (and mayb you) I think we are missing pin16 and pin23 on the converter (if you are using one) http://www.u...

Strange issue with fuel gage after changing clocks
SO, changed my clocks from red to white, all went smooth, no issues Yesterday got the beep for petrol, put £25 of shell v-power in it, fuel gauge needle went to where it should, drove to work, turned car of. At 5pm left work, started car, and fuel gage was almost a quarter below what it was when I ...

Re: Potential problems
What reg is the one you are looking at? Practically all Passat b6 will have an issue with the oil pump hexk key and shaft, so that will need changing. The earlier passats before 08 had issues with the epb calipers, later ones don't seem to. Also issues with failing steering lock on earlier models. P...

Re: mpg tips and tricks?
Now, something else I have recently started thinking about is redex... I have never ever added anything to my fuel in whatever car I have had, and forgetting about mpg specifically, is it worth it, does it help to clean the injectors etc, being a non techy kinda guy I always looked on redex as a ki...

Re: VCDS KIT.
Do you become obsessed with it, like, that light flickered so out with the VCDS or I think I heard a noise from the engine so out with the VCDS? My trouble is, I’m a terrible fiddler and concerned that I could get myself in trouble with one of these. Still not sure whether to get one or not. AMEN...

Re: VCDS KIT.
it depends, if all you are going to do (to begin with) is just read codes, clear them, then its easy peasy. BUT if you start coding moduels, changing settings and tweaking you could do damage to car and modules like jaraz said. BUT theres lots of instructions and help on ross-techs site so if you ev...

Mechanic said i still had some life left in it, it had a slight wobble in the shaft and the new key wobbled in the old shaft aswell. Just glad its all done. Old one was 77mm, cbab engine code http://i65.tinypic.com/2hx...

Re: Quick question I may be about to buy a Passat TDI 170 CR
Yup, mine was a 140 remapped to 180 remapped at 130k currently on 148k. No parts changed yet, BUT I have had the dpf gutted and egr deleted. I paid £5k for mine at 120k er about 3 years ago, one owner from new, main dealer history up to 110k, but its a 4mo and has a fair few bells and whistles on it.

Vcds is aftermarket diagnostic software, very close to dealer level. Lets you do all sorts but main thing is to check all the modules/sensors for error codes, post your location, could have a member local to you that has vcds

If you can do a vcds scan before you buy it
Also ring vw up and give them the reg no, they will tell you what history they have of it

Re: Just bought 2.0tdi PD 140
Wont be a grand, parts should cost you rough £250 to £300 from kmb and you get money back when you send them your old bits. I'm guessing prob £200 for a mechanic to do the job, but all depends on if you are keeping the car, if your going to sell it a year down the line then mayb mayb not, if your...

Re: brake fluid service
In that case id take the service book back in and make them tick it!
When I had timing belt done on wifes polo, they billed me for the water pump change as I had requested this to be done but didn't write it on the service book, went back in and made them write it down and put a stamp on it.
