Re: Tyre problem ?
Thanks for your input. I only have the small dust caps on each wheel but I have today seen on the internet that there some monitoring devices that affix to each wheel that replace the small dust caps. I presume these are wireless ? :-?? At present in the car I only have the fault code and dash light...

Tyre problem ?
Since I replaced my automatic B6 Highline estate for a manual B6 Highline estate, I have a warning light on the dash indicating a tyre pressure problem. I have replaced both front tyres and checked pressures (both OK). I tried to remove the fault code without success and I can't see any unusual wiri...

Re: Steering rod replacement
Hi Maclee, the saviour of many problems! ^:)^ Unfortunately, I wish I had that information a couple of weeks ago in time to purchase such a tool. However, the car (an automatic DSG gearbox and shift B6 Passat estate) had been damaged extensively in the accident and I had intended to send it to the c...

Steering rod replacement
Hi, I have problems replacing a steering rod that had snapped in a minor accident (no one hurt!).  However, I am awaiting a replacement kit but trying to remove the broken one is a hassle. I removed the rod end easy enough but the part of the rod going into the steering rack is near imp...

Oil level/temperature sensor
Help1 My scanner detects a faulty sensor but my Haynes manual states the item is a combined oil level/temperature sensor. However, when I do a search on the web with that information I only find oil level sensors not any combined sensors. ~x( ~x( I haven't gone underneath the car yet to drain the oi...

Seat belt not working
Hi, just replaced my B6 with another due to a silly accident!
However, I notice the drivers side rear seat belt does not 'grip' it just pulls right out even if I jerk it fast.
Is there any way of repairing or is it a case of replacing?

I'm not an expert or anywhere near it but does yours have an integrated sensor for wear limit. If so, I only know of one size for mine. Check on Eurocarparts.

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
To cut a long story short, I have cleared the air bag fault light. :-bd I didn’t have any luck with the ELM327 and other pieces, so I bit the bullet (£45) and purchased a cheap scanner that showed that it dealt with air bag fault lights for VW’s. What swayed me in such action was that the cheap scan...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
Ta much. I did open up the door trim again and found the main connector had come adrift, probably when I tried to take a photo of the air bag sensor. However, all is working again except for the dash warning light stays lit! I will have a look on the internet for an ELM327 that works on wifi ...

Thanks Maclee, details are as follows: a) iOS version 16.2 b) model name iphone 12 mini c) model number MGE63B/A BUT I STILL NEED DETAILS ABOUT ELM327 AND THE PHONE APP USED. An update where I disconnected the battery and have also checked behind the door trim but didn't find any problem although ne...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
Thanks, it's amazing the expertise on the forum. :ymhug: Before I approach the AA, I will just check behind the door trim in case there is a loose connector ! Also as there could be other problems with air bags I am interested in your ELM327 and would ask the following:- a) what version of ELM327 do...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
As promised, I tried today with my old Autel maxiscan ms309 scanner, but no luck! :(( :(( The only two modules that came up were a) $ 7E8: engine and b) $ 7E9 A/T, and both indicated ‘no codes found’. I did a check on the internet for any reviews for the scanner, one of which indicated that the scan...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
That's interesting thanks Maclee but something else has happened. ~x( ~x( The air bag warning light has come on! I'm not sure how many bags mine has but reading Haynes there could be a sensor in the driver's door. :-?? :-?? I will have to take the trim off again to make sure all connections are soun...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
As I intended previously, I closed up the car door but in the process I squirted some WD40 into the lock aperture. I disconnected the battery for a minute in case some of my work had an affect on some electronics (?) I tried the handle – no joy! ~x( ~x( I then remembered I had read on the Internet t...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
As usual, you have come up trumps :-bd thanks once more (*) I will put the house point in your record book. I did have another look during the day but temperatures were around 2-3 degrees C, so at 76 years of age, I decided to call it a day until we at least get into double figures and no wind or ra...

Re: Unable to use driver's door handle
You are a star Maclee! Do you by any chance have a list of the parts that are shown on your diagram so that if I need any I can use the correct terminology when ordering, and I will give you a house point as well!!

Bill

H Biffy, sorry I haven't replied (trouble logging on) but the simple answer was that the door switch WAS actually faulty.! Unable to use driver's door handle
Hi, my problem is the driver’s door handle. On my car, I operate central locking remotely from my key fob but during the icy weather recently the driver’s door was stuck with ice. I tried pulling the handle hard but without success. :-? I waited until temperatures were above zero degrees centigrade ...
