Re: how much is a 2.0 1996 cl estate worth?
I was just about to show you how to add pics on here, but I'm getting an error message on here that the site can't determine the size of the picture... There's a FAQ on here that'll probably tell you how to sort that. In the mean time, here's a link to the flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/6...

Re: b4 indicator retro-fit?
u can use them as side light only ;) ive got them they cost new at dealers about £90-95 Are these the ones that're silver with an amber panel in the middle? I've had a look, and that's all I've seen, and looking at where the hole is in the presswork, I don't think there's room for a reflector to g...

Might be worth starting to look on ebay - every now and again there're cheap NOS ones for these kind of engines. (Got a Lucas recon for £25 for the 'rocco!)

In practical terms: Yes. As long as it's not got serious rust issues. What else could you get for that money? Would you find anything that "runs great though..real smooth" with an MOT? And if you did, would you be able to get as much stuff in the back?! And you can't complain about 30MPG o...

Re: Sub in a B3. What have you guys done?
Likely to be too big for the space due to the seat runners... If they had "normal" subframes with just a rail each side, they'd fit easily. Best to have a measure up first though! I'd go for a conventional sub, either mounted in one side of the boot or in the wheel well. I'm just running a...

Re: b4 indicator retro-fit?
The metalwork behind looks a bit close for any of the indicators I've seen, hence wondering if anyone had done it... And more importantly, how?! I'm only asking because I find the blanks irritating - Assuming they had a good reason for bumper mounting the indicators, I can't see why the blanks are t...

Re: Car pulling to the left like mad
So, just humour me here: When you're holding the wheel straight, the car drives straight? When you let go, the car pulls left? When the car pulls left, the steering wheel is also pulled left? What numbers are on your printout for camber and tracking at the front? Who did this? (pm me if you don't wa...

Re: Looking for this part!
From my experience (mainly non-passat, I'll admit!) the floor sound deadening only comes off easily/cleanly if it's been waterlogged. Otherwise, it tends to tear underneath, leaving a good portion stuck o the floor. If it were me, I'd make a template from your existing piece and chop it out of some ...

Re: Car pulling to the left like mad
Tracking guy didn't centre the rack... The wheels are aligned with each other (presumably) , but not facing straight ahead when the rack's centred. Take it back. As above, camber will affect this too, presume the guys who set it up can check the camber? A lot of garages don't have the gauge, so do i...

cheers mate if i take the sender out the tank do i need to replace any gaskets or anything or can it go straight back in? where are the eart points near the clocks as well? No new gaskets - it's just a big 'O' ring seal. I know there's an earth point down to the right of the fuse box... No idea if ...

Re: fuel gauge
could be worth whipping the sender unit out of the tank, cleaning the contacts where the arm contact runs over the arc (obvious when it's in your hand, weird to explain!) and ensure the arm moves freely. Otherwise, it could be a poor earth near/on the clocks... Just ideas, sure some more experienced...

ring Macpa (leicester) for price on top mounts - they're effectively wholesale price.
Fowkes at Ibstock for your tracking. Seems they can actually use the kit they've got! (1st place I've ever found that I can recommend.)

Hi all, I am new member, and this is my first post :-bd I am thinking of putting the same thing in armrest on the back seat... And I read this smart posting here. I have sealed woofer in box, nothing too big, 10" running from ~100W amp So, bottom line, do you advice NOT to cut hole in armrest?...

Yes sounds like the thermostat :-) thanks mate... thermostat bought, but the other question is whats the difirense between red and blue antifreeze? That would be me... Its got ropey rear arches but otherwise seems sound and it runs and drives great. Interior and boot lights have also been upgraded, but for sone reason, the front interior light stays on but very dimly lit even with the doors closed and no key in the ignition. Anyone know how to resolve that? It gets brighter when a door is open or you switch it to constantly on. I have to leave...

If it's a 14" space saver, assuming you've got the right plastic holder thingy, it should fit at an angle inside the wheel, and sit flush (ish) with the top of the wheel. (or so I'd guess - that info's based on earlier cars, but I can sort you a pic, as I have this setup in the golf.)

Re: Routing amp and sub cables
There's usually a grommet blanking a hole on the bulkhead (or if not, a hole in one that can be enlarged/one where the cable'll shove through as well) for the +ve power cable. That's normally the only one you might need to drill for. Remember to fuse the main power cable - ideally up close to the ba...

Re: Running problems, B3 GT, 1.8 8v.
I've no model-specific experience, but I'd be looking at the fuel system first... Check the filter 1st, then go from there. (though if you've changed the filter recently and it was fine, skip that) Next up would be air leaks on the induction side... so all vac. pipes, everything and anything that co...

Couple of thoughts:
Is there any way you can get a wire or something and flick the child lock from inside the car?
The inner door handle will remove from inside... Does whipping that off and pulling the linkages in there help?

Re: camber adjustment
Short answer: It varies. Either is OK. Long answer: If you have slotted holes in the shock, you need to also have raised "tabs" for an eccentric (integral with the head of the bolt, and as a washer on the nut which is kept in register by a flat running down the shank/threads of the bolt) t...
