Re: Heater matrix size of connections
^exactly this! I'm sure you've heard of the evil foam covered doors in the heat distribution box... 1 of them regulates hot/cold on these cars (the matrix remains hot regardless of heat position) so your issue could be there. ... Personally, if I need to do a matrix, I do the foam on the doors at th...

Re: Headlight reflectors failed MoT
I never took any B4 ones apart, but I'd assume its the usual bake in the oven to soften the glue job (well documented by the mk3 boys who "joey mod" their lights) I have used Dual Metalizing though - they did a pair of corrado ones for me. Came out about £150 a pair though (a few years ago...

Hi! Welcome along! It's a bit quiet on here - there are a few faceache pages that get more traffic. Re: 1992 Diesel Passat starting circuit problem
^ Exactly.
Check engine earth strap, (same strap connects to the chassis near the battery tray then continues to the engine ( either a starter bolt or bellhousing bolt usually) ... Always worth giving the connections a clean on there anyway!
Otherwise, a dodgy connection somewhere or a broken wire

Re: IRRATIC START WHEN COLD
Absolute nightmare! Without reading back through, have you cleaned the main engine earth strap up? (Silly thought that might help beef a spark up) If you find yourself wanting to try a different SPI unit, let me know - I've got a couple. (If it's all spark related, it obviously won't make a differen...

Re: IRRATIC START WHEN COLD
Just checked in on here for the 1st time in months! Some of these SPIs are REALLY fussy about ignition timing - the ECU learns when the spark is, and regulates to suit... Those need plugging into vagcom to set up. (yes, really - we've got a mk3 cabrio that does - and when it was out after a dizzy re...

Welcome along! It's a bit quiet on here these days. There're a few of us that keep coming back to check in though. As for value, it's down to condition really... They don't come up for sale often, so they're hard to gauge. I feel like I remember the last one going for about £1.5K - No guarantees tho...

Re: fonzooorooo's Yogi B3 (page4 onwards)
I was psyching up for a bit of an pdate on here (t4 content) only to find Photobucket (which had already become borderline unusable) wants $399 a year :0 to host my pictures. As my car only cost about that, and indeed costs less per year to maintain, I won't be paying. I don't feel compelled to shif...

Nice!
And you're local too. (I'm in Coalville, there're a couple more of us over here with B3s too)
Much as it's all relatively simple, if you get stuck, I'm happy to help.

Sell.
Even as a breaker, the engine's worth decent money.

Re: My rustbucket B4 estate
I'd anticipate that you could trace the wiring back to where it's spliced in and remove that.... Presumably it's spliced either into the ignition or fuel pump (or both) I've stripped a couple out and each time been able to see where it was spliced in, remove it and solder/heatshrink the original loo...

It's been a while, but I thought it was time for an update... Tyres were dead, so got hold of a set of Toyos, planned to get the BBSs blasted and powdercoated, got fed up waiting for my normal guy to get back to me. Cracked out the rattle cans.... Lambda sensor is on the downpipe facing back toward the firewall. Check the number of wires to the plug before you try to buy one!

BLue 2 pin sender is for the ECU, black is for the gauge.

It's weird that this has come back to haunt you! I wonder if something is causing it to run too lean... Coolant temp sender? lambda? something like that. I have recently experienced similar though (and this isn't going to sound good to you!) ... My mate bought a (cheap, project) b3 with the 2e engin...

Re: How do I disable alarm?
I get the feeling reading your symptoms that it's more likely to be an ignition switch you need.
As for the factory immobiliser, it's built into the ECU and would need programming out by someone who does that sort of thing.

Re: Low Coolant and wet foot well.. Coincidence? Or
Coolant level normally drops after a change... The first time you run it up to full temperature, it'll fill the radiator. Obviously, if you top it up and it keeps dropping, you have a problem! Usual first-guess water ingress points are door membranes. In the torrential rain a couple of weeks ago, mi...
