the glowplug warning light flashing is for the engine management - best bet I'd say is to get it plugged into VAGCOM to check for fault codes. There's a VAGCOM locator utility available on here - failing that I'd go to a stealers to get it diagnosed.

hmm - might check that - the last time I noticed it on -.--mpg was going downhill. my car is totally standard - not remapped etc.
i calculated my mpg on Monday as the reserve light popped on at 637miles to a tank - the average mpg readings were all easily within 2mpg.

I had it on my old SWB Shogun and it was great - get on the motorway, set the speed and then sit back n relax.

mine has started doing this too - instead of going to -.--mpg it will sit at something silly like 138mpg whilst sat at the lights idling. it used to zero off but has stopped doing that for some reason. the average mpg is still accurate though so not too fussed about it at the mo.

Hi Phil -
do you have a price for UKPassats members for the cruise control kits?
I'd be interested in one for my '99 TDi.

If its the normal silver (not the blue silver) its called satin silver and the paint code is LB7Z - double check against the boot sticker tho.
I bought a touch up kit for stone chips from Halfords in that colour n its a good match

if you make a claim do you have to pay the excess up front before they'll sort the car? only reason i ask is that I had my car damaged before Xmas and am still in two minds as to whether to claim (its damaged both doors and rear arch) - I'm tempted to just source new doors myself and then get the ar...

Oil Filter Removal (TDi)

Just been looking on VAGParts.com and noticed they sell an oil filter removal tool - need to do an oil change on my TDi Passat (AFN engine / '99 Sport) - do I need this to be able to replace the filter? I have a normal filter removal tool (bike chain/lever thing) which is a pretty hamfisted tool to ...

that's one thing I've found now owning a diesel is that the pipe n slippers have come out and my driving is much more relaxed and safe. with a petrol car (certainly the Rado) it always felt like a race to get to work and I always gave it beans wherever possible! i spend more time looking at the MPG ...
