New Canbus Gateway & Radio?

I fitted a Kenwood DNX521DAB a couple of months before Xmas and notice after a couple of days of inactivity the car would be sluggish to start (I assume due to battery drain) so I've just updated my canbus gateway to a version Q. When I set the new coding I notice there's two options for the radio- ...

Re: anyone in Lincoln with vag com.. prob with epb

I'm about 30 mins north of Lincoln and have VCDS if you still need it. I've done EPB replacement/repair on both my rear calipers.

Re: recommend some tyres

I've just worn through a set of Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's. Fantastic grippy tyres and good overall mpg returns - I do 70+ miles a day and they've lasted approx. 12K - would probably have lasted a bit longer but the car needs 4-wheel aligning so scrubbed a little. I'll replace with the same next month...

Re: Anyone recomend a stereo for my B6

Depending on your budget, I'd recommend the Kenwood DNX5212DAB - you can pick them up for around £500 on eBay. I spent a lot of time looking around at headunits that would look factory but also have the features I wanted and also be reliable. The Kenwood is/was a VW approved upgrade option and has ...

Re: Rear door will not open

try winding the window down and pulling both interior and exterior door handles at the same time. It's often the cable that gets stuck.
I neeearly replaced the lock on mine, but when I came to replace it, I discovered that it was just the cable that had come off.

Did you have to remove half the dash to fix it or did you just resolder the board?

Re: Another EPB issue with VCDS codes

It's pretty straight forward if you follow the info on the Ross-tech wiki pages. I did mine following the epb info on there. Tells you how to reset the calipers etc.

Re: Another EPB issue with VCDS codes

I'd check for any cracks on the EPB casing first before worrying too much about codes. Chances are it's the motor that's seizing up. If there's a crack there, follow the guides on here (exactly what I did) - you'll need VCDS to reset the EPB but there's also a how-to for this on Ross-Tech's wiki pag...

Re: Installing ipod connectivity

That's what I ran on mine before I swapped the headunit out. I ran the cables through into the glovebox. Uses the CD changer functions to skip/fast forward tracks. Shop around as you should be able to get it for around £60

surely you could've got more by selling it as spares/repair esp. if it was taxed and tested?

Cruise Control Retrofit ECU repair wire?

So I finally got around to fitting the wire into the ECU in the engine bay and threaded it through the cover plate (and foam behind) at the back of the plenum chamber. Where should I be looking for the wire on the inside of the car?! Am I gonna have to disassemble half of the dash to get to it? Sent...

Re: Positive B6 ownership

Nice to hear some good reviews - I recently came back from a trip to Morzine in the French alps - did over 1800 miles with 4 adults on board, boot stuffed to the roof, 3 big full suss bikes on 3 Thule racks on the roof and a 4th bike hanging off another rack on he bootlid. Never missed a beat, haule...

Re: 2.0 tdi b6 sport bkp economy?

I got just 39mpg driving down to Morzine in France last week - FULLY loaded estate - boot rammed to the roof with biking gear & clothes, 4 people on board and 4 full-susser bikes on the roof rack! I average mid to high 50's commuting to work (35 miles) and that's a mix of town and motorway drivi...

I was thinking along the £1k+ route - much more than 2k though and I guess it wouldn't be worth it for the value of my car.

Respray cost?

Gave my car a long overdue clean and wax at the weekend which whilst it made her all nice n shiny, it also highlighted all the tiny scuffs n scratches n chips, a couple of small trolley dings (HATE supermarket car parks!!) on the front passenger door, a couple of light scratches on the roof from clu...

Re: What to look for? Passat Estate

My 55 plate B6 is on 173k at the moment and still going strong. It's had all the usual things rectified tho - injector recall done, reconditioned turbo and as it's the BKP engine it's had the oil pump shaft replaced with the longer version so no worries there. I've done 50k in it now in about a year...

Can someone tell me how to remove the reading lights - I need to install the mic for my new headunit but don't wanna wreck my headlining and map light etc. trying to route the wire up there!

Headunits with satnav?

Just bought myself a Kenwood DNX521DAB for my B6. Do you need to activate anything with VCDS to get satnav headunits to display on the MFD? It comes with the VW loom so hoping it's pretty much plug n play! I also have a later version CANBUS module to install just to ensure I don't encounter battery ...

Re: The Cyclist Thread (Bike pics please)

Yeh I used a place called Triple S Powdercoating in Bingley after having had loads of recommendations. The frame was black anodised before so no paint to remove. It's hard as nails! Much more suitable than paint and means the frame is like brand new again.

Nice to see some other bikers on here. I love both road and mountain biking - this is my roadie, a Felt AR5 (just before completing the Tour of Flanders hence the extra bags and the Open Pave tyres!) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/06/07/9e7e9uzu.jpg My hard tail Cube LTD Team http://img.tapatalk.com/d...
