Re: 4Motion Rear Arms - Tracking

Yep the guys said they had to come from VW - and mentioned they'd be shoving plenty of copper grease on. Nice 4Motion btw :esm

Pela 6000 Oil Change

Bought me one of these Pela 6000 Oil Extractors, what a great idea I thought. Just did an oil change and on the first use the tubing has split in a few places - going down the dipstick tube I found that to extract all the oil you needed feed the piping through the very slight resistance at the botto...

Re: 4Motion Rear Arms - Tracking

So I took the motor do a decent local garage today (Mike Evans Motorsport, Shrewsbury) and they are the first people to look at it and show me what's what on the ramps and comprehensively explain to me what's up. Bad news is they're not the cheapest around and it's cost me the best part of a grand a...

I tried a chain and more modern rubber type filter removal tool... and pure arm force! No luck, but will try it with the engine running as suggested... Cheers!

Oil Filter Cover

Attempted an oil change at the weekend - I have the correct tool for the oil filter cap removal, yet the garage who last did an oil change for me seem to have tightened it up to a mind bending level, proving removal nigh on impossible even with a huge extension bar - The socket/tool just ends up sli...

4Motion Rear Arms - Tracking

Right, had a thread on here a while back about my 4motion shredding the edge of my rear tyres. Garage said rear adjustments are seized and the rear arms need to be replaced in order to adjust and solve my tyre eating issue. I fitted some cheapo tyres and forgot about it for a bit as the amount of mo...

Re: Door bumper trim in rip off FAIL!

Ah bummer! Need one anyhow and I've ordered one in at TPS, could you clear something up that nobody seems to know... do they come as 2 separate bits (Plastic + Chrome) or are they supplied pre bonded?

Re: Door bumper trim in rip off FAIL!

The above is a bargain - I got a quote from TPS on Friday for this part and they want £70, I only require the chrome strip as my plastic trim is still fine. Where on earth can you get this for £18?!

Re: Oil

Haha you love TPS! Have phoned various local places including my local TPS and yes I am picking up the oil from them after work - £17.99 for 5l.

They are not so cheap for the rest of the bits.

Thank you for the heads up.

Euro Car Parts - Servicing

Why is it seemingly so hard to buy the right bits for your car? I enter my reg, it pops up with the correct car and engine details and then offers me multiple choices, all differing in sizes and spec for my service items. For example - the array of pollen filters, not one is the same as the other in...

Re: PD130 Oil Consumption

Ah I see - That's easy enough I have no undertray. I have heard though that if the sensor in the sump has detected a low oil level it should be working fine and that the problem lies with the bonnet sensor - to ensure you have lifted it, check the oil (sorted it out) and put back down. I'm more incl...

Re: PD130 Oil Consumption

As for your problem, if the oil is now up to level and the light is still on (orange light it should be) then the sensor has probably stuck. A few options; give it a whack to see if it will unstick or replace it. Alternatively it could be a wiring fault but I'd think it unlikely given the low oil l...

Re: PD130 Oil Consumption

My dash is also now telling me to check my oil every time I start the car... even though it has obviously been checked and seen to, do I have to reset it somehow?

Thanks for the above comments, interested to hear what anybody else is using or if it's normal for these engines to use some oil.

PD130 Oil Consumption

PD 130 141k on the clock, FSH - Last service was 9k ago and have just had the oil level light pop up on the dash. I've been meaning to and should have checked the oil myself before that happened... but I haven't. Oil was on minimum marker and it's just taken 1 litre to pop it up toward maximum. Does...

Cheers for all the input, I'm going to hold off telling the insurance, as I've had first hand experience of how they can try and ruin your life :-bd

Going to try and get down to a bodyshop I've been recommended today and get a quote.
