PR Options Sticker in Boot

The options sticker in the boot of the wifes Mk5 Golf is worn and about unreadable, question is can I find out what the codes are from the VIN number either on the net or would this be a main dealer visit?

Cheers.

Re: Remove rear lock mechanism

I've just had to replace a OSR door lock mechanism that was deadlocked shut. Had to remove everything from the inside, even after removing the inner steel skin I was getting nowhere opening it. I found the followning video that shows an easy way of opening the deadlock, a bit of a fiddle and you'll ...

Re: Help with front spring fitment please

They should be fine.I changed the front shocks on my 4motion with the sports suspension with Sachs ones a couple of years back and they were the same part number as they were for my other Passat without sports suspension, so I assume the shocks will be fine. Had to change the front shocks, springs e...

Re: MAF sensor issue, loss of power. (fault codes included)

I'd say it looks like injector 4 is the problem, whether it's the loom or injector is going to be a matter of elimination. I recently had some rough running, the ESP light coming on regularly with an ABS fault logged, then an injector 3 fault logged, had similar figures with injector 1 &3 (No1 l...

It would be interesting to see what the injectors are doing on group 013 along with 003 to see the engine speed and MAF.

Re: The dredded door lock

Done a couple of these when they were dead and locked, and both times managed to get them to unlock by bashing the door skin by the lock with the side of my fist while unlocking/locking on the key fob. Won't work every time but worth trying before drilling out.

Why not? I change the oil every 5/6k so don't feel the need for higher spec longlife oil. Cars done 221k and doesn't burn any oil so it works.

I picked up 4x 5ltr Quantum Platinum from TPS yesterday for £52.75 in vat, £13.19 each which is the cheapest I've ever got it.
They were also doing the 20ltr boxes of Platinum for £46.80 inc.

It's more than likely leaking around the pollen filter housing. There's a couple of how to's here: http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=44554&p=607540&hilit=Pollen+filter#p607540 http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=80062&p=653215&hilit=Polle...

Have you tried bashing the door by the outside handle with the side of your fist while operating the door locks with the fob? My NSR lock died locked recently and had it open in about 20 seconds.

This stuff works takes some miles to get through and clean everything but i use it all the time and so do many others. Also mineral 2 stroke oil in with the fuel do a search on that one. This link is just a random one you may find it for a lower price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Millers-Oils-Diesel...

Re: mot

It could well be. Biodiesel produces something like 75% less particulates than pump diesel which is the problem area for the smoke test. It will also clean out the fuel system/injectors after a couple of tanks of fuel. When I used to run derv, there'd always be the small smoke cloud when you gave it...

Not a typo, 0.04 on the smoke test. I run 100% biodiesel and it's normally low but that's the lowest they've tested it at.

I worked in Southern Germany for 5 years, every winter about the only cars I saw stuck/wheel spinning their way to nowhere were BMWs. A colleague had a 330D and would not drive it if the roads were snowy, he used his brothers Peugeot.

Also ended up replacing the shock top mounts as they were on the way out. Back e...

Re: 2005 Passat estate bad clunking turning left

Get hold of the front wheels and give them a good shake - top to bottom and side to side. You should feel any serious ball joint wear doing that. Could also be a worn CV joint, jack it up put it on full left lock and turn the wheel, if the CV joint is knackered it'll feel clunky.

It's started getting a bit 'squirmy' on the backend, as well as the MOT guy saying they where looking reasonably worn last year. I don't suppose they've done too bad for 215k miles.
