Re: Passat B6 - Haven't we been here before?
Hi, Mighty stylish motor you have. Thread made interesting reading. One point I noticed was when you mentioned missing out on a RCD310 head unit. Your pics look like there's a RCD310 already fitted or am I missing something? Anyway, if you want an RCD 310 with code (from a 59 Passat Highline auto.) ...

Hi,
With regards to smoothness of change for DSG 6 speed double clutch gearbox......it's like a baby's bum.
If it didn't tell you on the display, you'd be hard pushed to tell when a change occurred or which gear it's in.
Nicest auto box I've driven.

Re: CD Player
Hi, I don't know how similar the B5.5 is to a B6 but my B6 doesn't need code if same unit is re-installed, it auto recognises and installs it. In this case, disconnecting power and re-connecting may reset your unit without problem if you don't know code. Worth a shot. If you don't know the code, con...

Re: B6 Mudflaps and fitting?
Hi, I've been driving around on my eBay £11.50 specials and have never grounded them yet. I've been over speed humps regularly and I've toured round some bleeding awful roads in the Lake District without any problems. The only explanation is I'm not an estate and I haven't lowered my suspension. Do...

Hi,
I've posted on other subject re buying another head unit with Ipod connectivity and Bluetooth hands free phone for less than the cost of the MDI unit required for the built in RCD310 unit. so have a look in ICE and do away with the VW unit.

Nice unit and great price. You did well. Saw pictures on other post.
I presume it has Bluetooth hands free which was important to me, together with iPod connectivity.
Like you, the DVD's under the telly.

Hi,
For info (Better late than never) I opted for a JVC KW-R600BT.
Does everything I need and looks good (to me). Look it up on google.

Re: Double dins with DVD and USB input
Hi, A lot of the options given seem to be a bit expensive. I wanted USB for my iPod and also a bluetooth hands free unit but cheap. I opted for a JVC KW-R600BT double din head unit that has a rear usb that fits in glove box, built in Bluetooth that allows me hands free phone with my iPhone and also ...

Re: B6 Mudflaps and fitting?
My only comment would be, are they genuine VW parts. I ordered some alleged to be for a 2009 VW Passat, but when the chap doing my service tried to fit them, they wern't the correct type, probably from the new B7 passats. Got a refund but what a ***about. I've found another eBay add for Passat B6 Gu...

Hi, I have a 2009 2.0ltr TDi Passat with 6 speed DSG gearbox (B6-Common Rail) It was manufactured in 2009 and registered in June 2009. I thought my car would be subject of the recall discussed on this thread, so I asked for some paperwork from the dealer to confirm the work was carried out, I'm stil...

Re: How many of you use Auto/hill hold?
Just in case you didn't check the handbook, you can switch it on permanently by going into the MFD settings and using the settings there to have it on all the time. After doing this, even if you switch it off using the switch, it re-sets to on next time the ignition is switched on. My previous auto'...

Re: vw service plan, do i follow it?
Hi, I've just recently bought a 2009 2.0 ltr TDi Passat High-Line and it's recorded in the service booklet as being on the long life service plan which can cover a couple of years or 20,000 miles between services. I understand that a special oil is used for cars designated in this class and the serv...

Re: electric seat switches
Hi, I have a similar con figuration in my 2009 Highline. It took me ages to work out what did what accurately. The hand book, more like an edition of war and peace it's that thick, shows half a dozen different variations of electric buttons and manual levers. My combination don't appear anywhere and...

Re: Tyre pressures
Hi, I take your point. I had low profiles on my Coupe but didn't get much mileage from them. The Passat ones are "Jelly walls" as you say, but with the extra pressure they seem quite stable. I'm not a young boy racer any more and that's why I got a Passat in the first place. I was surprise...

Re: Radio (RCD 510 and premium phone kit)
Sorry for the delay Chrisdut but I've had a short break over the lake district and I've just got back and started catching up. The unit is JVC KW-R600BT. The radio installer popped it in together with other bits for steering wheel control and hands free, iPod usb in glove box etc. Has worked well wh...

Tyre pressures
I've had my 2009 VW Passat 2.0 TDi Highline DSG for about two weeks, having purchased it from VW dealer "Lookers" at Middlesbrough. I read on here a few threads about high tyre pressures in Passat tyres, so despite only just getting car, I checked the fuel filler cap for recommended pressu...

Re: URGENT REGARDING 2.0 TDI INJECTORS
I'm quite concerned having just bought a 2009 Passat High-line 2.0TDi DSG (138Hp) Is there an age or mileage when this problem commonly occurs or is it entirely random? I've bought car from Lookers, Tees-side which is a VW dealership and I got a one year warranty with it. How do I find out if there ...

Re: Retro fitting fog lights
Stick a 500 watt spot light on the wall at home with a motion sensor on it and you'll be able to see much better when you get out of the car. Sorry, facetious. It seems a lot of work and expense for the purpose of having coming home lights. Bearing in mind that if the conditions are bad enough for f...

Re: Metal tyre valve caps- Beware
Hi, I've got alloy caps so I'll keep a close eye on them and use some copper slip to prevent corrosion. I spotted something on eBay that might be of interest to those who like a bit of bling on there wheels. Chrome effect valve stems to match the wheels and caps. Obviously you'd need to have tyres r...

Re: Radio (RCD 510 and premium phone kit)
Hi, When I discovered I needed a MDI to connect an iPod to my RCD310 at a cost of around £150, plus any cables/connectors required, I decided to get rid of the 310 and get a new system which I could have hands free Bluetooth as an extra at no further cost. I looked at a few head units but decided t...

I was surprised at the 38 recommended for mine but it's correct. Spoke to a few friends with standard type cars (Not like our limo's) and they were gob smacked at such high pressures. Problem is, if they are too low you wear the outside edges off your tyre. If it's too high you wear the centre tread...

Hi, It's very unusual to have a problem like this. I've used Sony head units myself in the past. Passat B6 Head unit upgrade?
Recently bought 2009 Passat High-line 2.0 TDi DSG. with RCD310 head unit. Very nice but basic and I can't use phone on it or attach Ipod nano except through the only external input which is a jack plug in the arm rest. No CD changer, No socket in glove box, No MDI interface. Had a look at the pricin...

Hi, read this thread and thought it might assist me. I have a RCD310 in my Passat B6 with only a 'Aux. in' socket in the arm rest. Does this unit have a cd changer socket on the back of it? If it does, isn't there a cable that plugs into the CD changer socket that then connects to an ipod. The Hyund...
