Re: Damn Ebay buyers!!

I agree Ebay used to be a good place to buy and sell. Still a good place to buy stuff but there are so many scammers on there with a different angle trying to get stuff for next to nothing. Or a discount because it arrives 5 minutes late. And you can't even give any negative feedback to buyers any m...

That won't be a problem . As long as it physically fits, as you say 70Ah is more than enough.

Re: B7 Snapped Pressure Plate + other issues

Not good but you are lucky that the broken part didn't make it through the end of the gearbox. Those round raised sections are where the bearings are mounted at the ends of the shafts. My mate has a 2011 Golf where the same thing happened to his clutch at around 50K miles, however he first noticed w...

Forgot to say I would source a second hand good head and change the head using decent gaskets and bolts. http://www.enginebuildermag.com/2005/07/perfect-engine-sealing-starts-with-proper-head-bolt-use/ Make sure the bolts are lightly oiled, not dry, and make sure you follow the order to tighten the ...

Re: Pressurising the coolant

Not much point in tightening the head bolts a bit more if they were tightened correctly in the first place. They are torque to yield and stretch when tightened correctly. Tightening them any more just stretches them a bit more which doesn't put any more pressure on the sealing surface. This is why t...

Re: Blacksmoke DIY map ?

Straight forward enough as long as everything goes right. For some reason you can't always connect to the ECU with an MPSS lead, I have had to map a car on the bench because of this. VAG-COM worked fine and could find no other issues. If the remap happens to fail in the early stages you can end up w...

Hi Dave, Welcome to UKP what year is your car ? And is it a saloon or estate? I took a guess and went for 2012 estate. I expect there is not much difference TBH. passat b7 number plate lights.JPG Seems like it connects directly to the J519 BCM module. No fuses or anything else. You need to check it ...

Re: A climbing temp gauge on a really steep hill

Sounds very much like a water pump issue to me. Normal running there is enough coolant flow to keep the engine temperature good. When the engine is being worked the flow is not enough and the engine overheats. You can make a check by seeing how much flow there is to the coolant bottle when the engin...

I am glad I don't sell cars very often. I don't want to offend anybody but I couldn't tell whether somebody was Romanian, Latvian or Estonian just in general Eastern European. There are plenty of dodgy characters doing things with cars and most of them are not Romanian. two romanian looking men was ...

Re: Bosch s5 Agm in b7 tdi

Yuasa , Exide etc are good batteries. If there was a significant difference in the price of between a Varta and one of these or I needed a battery ASAP and these were the only ones available then I wouldn't have an issue fitting one. I just think that the Varta batteries are a little better in terms...

Re: awx sluggish

They are essentially the same engine. The AVF has very slightly different mapping to give it a little more torque but it's not really noticeable. Possibly an issue with the VNT or N75. Check the vacuum pipes are looking OK. Also you could try swapping the MAF's between the two and see if the problem...

Varta make Bosch batteries, An S5 Bosch and a Varta Silver dynamic are identical except for the fact that the Bosch battery is usually more expensive. The three main manufacturers of OE batteries for VAG are Varta, Banner and Moll. As long as you replace the battery with the same capacity within a f...

As above if coolant isn't being lost resulting in air in the system then it's probably not the matrix thats at fault. You could check theres no air in the system by bleeding the heater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyu6nFV5jN8 Check there are no faults on the climatronic. If you don't have VCDS i...

Re: Tdi pd130 runs smoother in cold weather

Check the car for fault codes. Car only goes into limp mode for certain things to protect the car. usually over / under boost but other things such as crank / cam sensor issues can cause limp mode. There should be a fault code stored.

Only took me 3 hours to unravel that air filter clean it and put it back together. Well worth it :) I used to find my Passat ran smoother and quieter when it was colder. Re: turbo

The gt1749VC is the turbo used on some of the transverse pd130 and pd150 cars. It has an integrated exhaust manifold and I don't think it will fit the longitudinal cars like the Passat and A4 etc. Doesn't give you a great advantage over the standard VB turbo on the PD130. Better to fit a hybrid VB.

SMF's can be OK if the flywheel is heavy enough. The problem occurs with those that are either lightened when it can be really bad or just not heavy enough. A lot of people fit Sachs organic clutches with a DMF's and have no issues. The gearboxes are designed to work with a DMF. Having a DMF improve...
