Re: Diesel Decat Pipe
B4 td & tdi have no lambda sensor, they do have a 'cat' or 'dpf' though, this is separate from the down pipe on the AAZ (1.9td) cars but part of the down pipe on the 1Z tdi's Chop it out & weld in a bit of straight pipe  Rich. Ps. Td's are quiet on the exhaust so you can bin the res...

Re: b4 tdi into my b3 estate
Might be able to help you re-home the tdi cluster if you don't use it & a few other bits
Rich.
Ps.
If you do use the cluster keep its 'sub' loom as opposed to the vr one, might be slightly clock-specific

I've got one from my B4 tdi here (in the scrap pile next to the garage) with anti-roll bar & wishbones, it'd need the newer type hydraulic engine mount & engine bracket (1 bolt to mount not 3) Only issue is I'm probably miles away from you  For the record, the mk2/3 golf subframe di...

Just fitted the type in the link above to my mk2 golf, nearly half that price from gsf B-) Think you can use the later (mk3 golf type) 2 part / separate bearing mounts without issue, maybe cheaper :???: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Mk3-1991-1998-Front-Suspension-Strut-Top-Mount-Bearing-X2-/2512...

You thinking rear hatch or front splitter?
Think the mk3 golf vr6 splitter can be modded to fit the front bumper on the B4 and I did think about getting a t5 Volvo hatch spoiler to see if it would fit

Re: B4 Passat engine info.
it will be a aaz 1.9 td, easiest swap is 1z tdi which will give you a much better engine with improved mpg, you just need the 1z ecu, front loom, intercooler set up and obviously engine Don't forget the pedal box with brake & clutch switches aswell as tho potentiometer for the 'fly-by-wire' thro...

Springs carry the cars weight, shock absorbers , well they absorb the shock (dampen the springs oscillation)slacker wrote:I've got mk3 rear coilovers on my b3 and it's bouncy as *no swearing*!!!

Re: Coilover question
I used mk2 golf F'K coilies on my last B4, different sized rear lower shock mount bolts (m10 on mk2&3 golf and m12 on B4, I drilled the shocker's lower bush sleve to a clearance but you could just use 10mm bolts as per golf) Also passat had different rear topmounts to golf, but these fit the sam...

Re: Aftermarket steering wheels in B3
I just got a momo boss off ebay for y Nardi but remember the pcd is way off so you need to get an adapter plater - also available on ebay. Some of the 'cheaper' bosses are drilled for both omp/sparco/momo & nardi, I had one but had to tighten the screws that hold it together as they were loose ...

Re: Advice on gearboxes please!
Mk3 golfs have cable clutch / rod gear linkage 'boxes (020) in the aaz engined cars & hydraulic clutch / cable gear linkage 'boxes (02a) in the 1Z & ahu (or tdi) cars, it is the 02A 'box needed for the B4 (I think :-o ) The (02A) gearbox code is stamped on a 1 1/2" x 3/4" flat surf...

Re: Advice on gearboxes please!
I had a similar issue with my (B4 AAZ engine & cha box converted) mk2 golf, turned out that the selector tower in the 'box was the issue with crunching & selecting gears (although the selector fork tips wore away on 5th gear so couldn't get 5th :-o ) I'm going to fit a B4 TDI (ctn???) box as...

Bigger turbo = more air = needs more fuel Not just a bolt-on mod, exhaust needs looking at to allow better breathing & a boost-gauge aswell as an exhaust temperature gauge should be on the shopping list to save melting things I had a straight pipe exhaust on my tdi b4, not too loud & more re...

Re: Turbo upgrade
The afn uses 'vnt' so is more complicated to controll but possible as a mecanical throttle system, also the turbo would interfere with the engine mount on the b3/4 & golf etc conversion
Possible but only nessessary for big power & headaches
