Re: wooshing turbo help!

If you are smoking and poor mpg I would take a punt on one of the intake pipes from the turbo to the inlet manifold. These pipes have a metal clip to locate them and they are prone to wear and they pop off. I have had to replace two on my old 51 plate TDI sport. Check the connections to the intercoo...

Re: Diesel noise that comes and goes !

Thank God someone else has this problem, I thought it was just me. I notice this occasionally when pulling away in first, to me it sounded like a severe bottom end death rattle. When it first happened I stopped the car and checked the oil level as I was convinced she was running dry. My 140 Tdi High...

You just have to try a TDI 130 remapped to 180 then believe me noise is not an issue. Seriously though I know what you mean, round town they can sound agricultural, but the car was designed for the open road and here they are (in my opinion) quieter than a petrol. As they say "horses for course...

Hi Chaz

I have a 5.5 2001 and the rear bumper moulding is already marked inside, ready for drilling. Take the bumper off and all will be revealed. Make sure you have the drill which is the correct size for the sensors.
Wiring to the reversing lights should be blue/red.

Hope this helps

I can highly recommend Elsawin, to install you just have to be patient and read the instructions properly. Once loaded it works fine, the diagrams are 10 times better than Haynes, although it only show the use of VW tools.
Always available from a well known auction site for just a few quid, bargain.

Hi Vagcom is all that is required, I have a registered version but I believe the "demo" version will also set up cruise. As far as fitting goes the VW instructions are very good, however they are generic and cover all models. The only things you need are a spline drive to remove the steeri...

2001 Tdi Sport, I have Vag-Com, however the service indicator was reset through the buttons on the instrument cluster. Press and hold the right hand button, turn on ignition, then turn the left hand button to the right, I think the display counts down to zero, then release the buttons and turn the i...

Sorry for the hijack, but I really want cruise.
Just how difficult is it to get the right parts and then fit it.
I have a 2001 TDI sport, and have just aquired Vag-com. If its less than £100 I'll give it a go.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance

There is a great kit available from Maplins @ £39.95, 4 sensor with dash mount visual and audible display. Comes with plenty of wiring for a saloon and the required size drill. As an important point the B5.5 rear bumper is already marked for the sensors, remove the bumper and you will find 4 equidi...
