I originally opted for the refund as I was going to look for some decent quality "3rd party' anthracite.
The 'genuine' mats are good but nothing particularly special.

Re: B5.5 Genuine Mats ?
oh, also told me there are more than one supplier of mat sets, they are not realy an oem item as such, VW don't make them.
Not cheap, around £60 mark if I remember for full front/rear set

Re: B5.5 Genuine Mats ?
i got some from a main dealer last year, ordered anthracite but got black. When I pointed it out they said no worries we"ll order again, it then apparently turns out they can only get black now. They offered me a refund that I accepted only to then be told you can keep the mats too.... ...

Re: Oil Filter Cap Stuck
Are you saying when you insert the squre drive it 'jacks' the tool of of the housing that it no longer grips the 14 flats? I had a quick look at the laser tool, its pressed steel and the drive would indeed pertrude into the void above the housing when in place, the void does look like it would be qu...

Re: Petrol or Diesel - which is the better....
sounds like you will only cover a few thousand miles a year so imo the petrol would be a better choice. cheaper car price to start with, cheaper fuel, All of your short journey driving will not suit a newer diesel engine with dpf, it would rearly get hot enough to regen so just 'soot' up and cause y...

Re: Hand me down b5.5
Been looking at 17" OEM wheels myself, struggling to find anything that does not need a referb or spacers so started looking at new OEM brands. Borbet are the most reasonable priced you can get a brand new set for little over 400 quid. I quite like the CA. like a 7 spoke monte Carlos, available...

The Stiftung museum is also home to a GTi Passat that from what I can gather was never made available as an option. http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab82/harveypic/c1576b085210951b52f7b2b77ceeb35a_zpspof3vvwp.jpg http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab82/harveypic/2a129cc645160a61e7e94c4fc1d733c9_zp...

Re: Estate 1.8t advice needed please
traction may have been an option on early cars, my old 2001 sport never had it either, think it was called ASP first, Automatic Stability Program then soon changed to ESP (Electronic) If its a sport I think you should be ok, I believe the estate rear springs may have a higher raiting for loads but I...

Re: Cv boots
Would be fine on a b road commuter car, but I'm guessing they won't last too well at motorway speeds or heavy acceleration! It's the opposite, its lots of large imput steering that causes them to fail. when your manouvering with a fair degree of steering input such as when around town the gaitors r...

pretty sure it gives the option of a longlife reset.
However, for a PD I'd recommend fixed interval with 507 spec oil.

Classic boot latch micro switch symptoms, did you check the pipe connections for the rear wash when you changed it last time? should stay dry otherwise?

Surely checking the part number on the actual lock will be more helpful than checking on the CCM? No locks I have seen on ebay mention the CCM number Not what little_Geoff was getting at. The CCM is no one victim to any water leaks that are common on our cars. check the CCM is dry and/or signs of w...
