Good shout actually Gaz as mine was a 110 and the bracket doesn't fit an 096, iirc if it's 096 the bracket does fit a 110 or is it the other way around, can't remember.

I wouldn't touch it personally, get one from here https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/types/096/, my preference is Varta as they are Bosch basically, both made by the same company but cheaper than Bosch, failing that a cheaper Exide is another option.

Re: My B5.5 and I.. In it for the long haul...
This thread is great. Almost the same as my journey with the Passat. I bought mine for £180 about 5 years ago needing a head gasket. Got it sorted and gradually tidied the bodywork up as the previous owner crashed through a fence and badly scraped the bonnet and wings. Can't find a set of Sport whe...

Re: Quick bit of help for a mate looking to buying an 09 plate Pashat...
Doesn't look too bad that MOT history is good, mileage is correct, last V5 issued over 2 years ago, had shocks at 128k and rear pads at 144k, only other advisories have been tyres so looks a genuine trade in. Also as it's a dealer regardless of trade in it should get 3 months warranty, dealers can't...

It was actually less than a minute as I had the post ready and when I clicked post I hadn't realised it didn't post as it showed your post in the interim so I clicked post again lol, either way best to get it twice than not at all.

Re: 2.0tdi 170bhp 2014 CC engine cambelt interval
If it's the CR170 with DPF it's 180,000km or roughly 110k, they don't have time limits now although as stated this is the belt, not the WP or tensioners etc, the old time limit was on older belts, but I'd say 5 years is a good time to change it unless you have only done 30k, most would have done 60-...

Re: TDi wont start
I'm leaning towards crank sensor, had similar issues when mine was dodgy, splutters, cut out then wouldn't start, didn't throw a code either, could just be funky wiring up by the expansion bottle, behind there are 2 connectors one is light gray iirc for the crank sensor, give it a wiggle while tryin...

Yeah auto are reduced torque, same for 5 speed and 6 speed, clutch size, I would map all 3 different. I have some auto maps already done, send me the file.

Re: Overboost - How much is too much?
Turbo siren noise is something I would worry about if thinking of a remap though, my nephew came to me a few months back with an Audi A3 he wanted me to map and it had a slight whine so I advised against it, he in his infinite wisdom went and paid 300 to a company who mapped it, it lasted about a mo...

Re: Overboost - How much is too much?
Ah if it's spiking at 1.6 I can see why they wouldn't map it as that is around the boost a map would run so it will spike higher with a map, if it's making the police siren noise I think I'd be inclined to change the turbo myself.

Don't forget you have to deduct 1 Bar for AP, it's actually 1.6 it's boosting to.

Re: Replace cutch without DMF repacement?
Complete false economy I get what you're saying but absolutely on me bum financially at the mo, plus me and a mate are going to do it so if the worst come to worst we can always drop the box and do it again. Plus the parts for both would be more than I paid for the car which kinda breaks my banger ...

Re: Replace cutch without DMF repacement?
Complete false economy not doing the flywheel at the same time, a new clutch will have more bite so if the flywheel is worn it will wear quicker, if you have to do it after the clutch is done you have 2 lots of labour.

Re: I've been putting off asking this on here but...
I've had this as well on other cars, it is moisture on the clutch plate on cold days. Thanks man  At some point I will have to drop the box to sort the bearing, I can have an inspect then, but in the meantime I can live with it. I suppose as the car sits for a few days at a time it gives it c...

Sounds a lot but it's over 30 odd years so averages out just over 2 a year, some years I've had half a dozen lol
