Hi Aiden.
Thanks for the bump. I gave the car to Gaz a while back. - he sent me a pm.
Got myself day insurance and drove it down, not sure what he’s planning on doing with it?

Re: Egr removal
once the smaller pipe is off, it's easy. iirc the allen key "brake calliper tool" fits for good leverage. I'd also recommend getting some thin gasket paper, as mine leaked oil at the joint afterwards. (But ran soo much better) http://s1330.photobucket.com/user/little_geoff/media/101A7028-8...

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
Yeah I know it’s not the best of cars. It had a dent in the side of it, but I pushed another bit of the panel and out it popped!! :hyst It’s like everything is just bolted on with 10mm nuts or fasteners. My weekends are fully booked up for the next month, so I needed a cheap car. I did enquire about...

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
Pretty much decided to give up on my Passat, sadly I need a reliable car for the next few weeks so got myself a cheap run about today. Nissan K12 Micra 03 plate, but with only 77k on it and the MOT in Nov. It was worth paying £600 for it. At least I have wheels, and i’ve already sorted the fuel flap...

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
Honestly Gaz I just need something cheap. Going to look at a 1.2 Nissan mixes tomorrow. Long Mot, and only 77k for £600. I’ll decide what to do with my Passat after that. My anxiety levels are through the roof. My mother in law is here for a week, and now really isn’t the best time to be looking for...

I was looking at 1.9tdi again. But Tbh funds are low, so not sure what my options are.

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
I dunno, I think i’m Going to call it quits in this one. I’ll have a quick look, but plenty of cheap Octavias out there.
Sadly I’ve got the skills, just not the time.

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
See now that makes more sense...i’ll Take the rocker cover off and have a look later. Either the way sounds like the car is done, just don’t like being charged £500 for work that didn’t need doing.

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
~x( X( Very annoyed. Car has been at the garage a week and still no better...not a bit better. Still sounds like a blowing exhaust, and still plumes of black smoke. I’ve now got to decide if I want trading standards to get involved. It’s just ridiculous that they could even take it off the ram...

Re: People in need of help in and around the South West..
poop. should have checked on here first i guess. Sadly it's just bad timing for me, as all my weekends are taken up, and since i had a cop car behind me a few days ago, thought i'd better get the car sorted Asap.
But will def get in touch, as i need to do my suspension and timing belt at some point.

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
So two weeks after it passed the MOT, and i start it up to really rough running and lots of black smoke on acceleration... Did all my pipe checks, and found a vacuum hose towards the front. Sadly it didn't fix the problem, and took of and checked the turbo/intercooler hoses...and nothing on VCDS. Dr...

Re: Turbo oil supply and return questions, please help
Ok, so I have a similar issue...decided to do the whole mr muscle cleaner so took the egr off... It was running fine and much much better for a week. Then Saturday morning it sounds like a bag of nails, whole car shaking, noisey tappers, (injector gone?) black smoke on acceleration... I’ve scanned i...

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
Well. There’s a first for everything.! Only went and passed the MOT on the first attempt. (Just...) I got 4 part worn tyres last week, and did the drop links on Saturday, and with mileage and the new regs, really didn&6 think it would pass the emissions. http://i1330.photobucket.com/albums/w578/...

Re: Electrical gremlins
i'd advise you to look at the CCM, (but you've probably already done that) If you've not already got it, it's worth getting VCDS-lite, as this would identify a lot of the door, mirror and dash issues. The software is free, and you can get a cheap cable of ebay for a few quid. (assuming you have a la...

depends what the gremlins are...? Some are dodgy switches, some are corroded wires...some are just plain bizarre!

Re: Budget B5.5 Estate
Not been about for a while, but ive still got the wagon. (235K and still going!) picked up a cheap set of alloys/tyres for it, but my most recent issue has been rough running. Serious drop in mpg and lots of black smoke!! Went to check the vac hoses and discovered the main one running to the egr was...

Re: Front Brake pad woes
Yeah, i took the top off the reservoir, and some of the brake fluid out, since the pads are worn to max...but they are knackered. I ordered the £70 pair off ebay, should be with me for the weekend. I'd like to refurb the originals myself, so want to keep them. It's not the first set of pads i've don...

Re: Front Brake pad woes
Thanks for all the responses, i'll get a new set from ebay, then possibly referb my originals at some point. Plus i need to get some new flexi pipes for both- back needs to be done for the MOT, and the front is on its way out. I've ordered a brake winding set anyways as the rear pads will need doing...

Front Brake pad woes
With my brake warning light on, i just tried to changed my front pads, with little success... Only starting on the passenger side, but with the caliper off, i'm struggling to get the piston to move at all. Bad news, is that that seal around the piston was perished, so i am wondering if i should just...

Re: Abs traction light on dash
As above, you'll need to scan it to find out what exactly is wrong. Mine was on for ages, but scan showed it was front right sensor. - replaced the sensor for the MOT, and after a reset cycle light cleared.
