Re: Piston through block 1.9bxe

Well today I've heard from Perrys and they've said they are going to repair the car at no cost to me. A new short motor will be in by the weekend hopefully.

Over three weeks of arguing my corner and I have the outcome I wanted.

Re: Piston through block 1.9bxe

There's something about the Sales If Goods Act which may help if they start getting arsey. If I'm claiming within 6 months for a repair or refund, the seller has to prove the car wasn't faulty at the time if sale. Surely a thrown rod within 1500 miles on a 65000 engine is faulty?

Re: Piston through block 1.9bxe

58 plate. Took a 5 year loan to pay for it and it pops in under 3 months after only doing less than 1500 miles since the cambelt change! I don't think I'll be buying a car this expensive again. I'm very frustrated at the mo.

Piston through block 1.9bxe

Mines just gone! Just under 65000 miles. Bought from Perrys with a full service and cambelt change and a 3 month warranty which I am still within unless they try and wriggle out somehow.
How much is a new motor?

Re: Drilling holes in the air box.

Drilling holes in the air box means the airflow before the filter is less restricted.

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Traced an annoying rattle on the rear cabin area. Turned out to be the high level brake light housing. It was vibrating at lows revs and starting to irritate me! There's a small piece of towel stuffed in there at the mo but will be properly sorted with some sticky back foam insulation.

Re: Coilovers

Is there anything else if need to buy/adjust on my b6 regarding coilovers? How much is the camber changed(if at all) and what would I need to do to stop uneven tyre wear?

Or is it just as simple as unbolting the stock setup and reaching with a coilover setup?

Re: B6 310 DAB radio

I have an iPhone which I think would work the same as an MP3 player but it would kill the phone battery pretty quick.

Is there no adaptor which plugs into the back of the head unit ? The MDI thing sounds like more than just a wire!

B6 310 DAB radio

Is there a hidden USB port somewhere? I've got the 3.5mm jack in the centre console but the mp3 I have is tat and over complicated. I was hoping I could plug in a USB memory stick and scroll through the tracks using the headunit. If there isn't a super secret hidey hole USB, what's the easiest way t...

Hoovered and fitted some mats. Passat tailored but not VW ones. Nice fit and for £15 delivered good value.

Re: B6 Highline black/gold

Cheers guys.

I guess coca cola would be a good description. My old scirocco was a very similar colour.

And yes, just debadging the boot lid. The grille emblem will be staying.

B6 Highline black/gold

Picked it tonight. Dead chuffed. An unusual black/brown colour which is classed as gold with tan leather. Totally standard at the mo. Only major change is hopefully coilovers at some point. I like the 17" vw alloys do see no need to change them. A de-badge will probably be the first job. I've g...

Is this with standard size tyres as well as the wheels? I've just bought a Highline and really like the wheels it comes with. How firm a ride is it?

Favourite 'Looks'

What's the next 'look' going to be? All the different fashions for cars over the years have brought some good and some terrible! What's been the best? Opinions. I do like the rat look but it only works on old cars for me. A ratty vw van is hard to best for that look in my opinion. I always disliked ...

Re: Coilovers

Can coilovers be adjusted whilst the car is sat or does it need to be jacked up/axle stands? I'm assuming they have marks on the struts to show the point that they have been adjusted to?

Turns out it had 118k not 80!!

Do all the 06 onwards B6 1.9s have the BXE engine, or are there other engines used?
