I Want To Come Back!!

Morning all! Well, after wrongly selling my beloved B5 Turbo Sport and 3 cars later I've decided that I want to rejoin Passat ownership, just got to sell my current car to fund the new one. I want another B5 but I have a couple of questions: B5's seem to of dropped in value in recent years, can you ...

Re: Diesel Pointers

How can you tell them apart? And when you say late passat etc, do you mean the B5.5 or the last of the line B5's? Any dates regarding from/untill etc?

Re: Diesel Pointers

sounds promising! I know the usual Passat things to look out for, just wasnt too sure about the derv engine, although I do know that they are the most robust of the derv engines.

Diesel Pointers

Hi all! I'm looking into buying a B5 TDi 110 (in the nearish future). I've owned a B5 1.8 20v Turbo Sport before so I know to look out for the usual leaks and suspension issues etc etc. I'm just a bit unfamiliar with the 110 derv. Anything to look out for in particular? Whats the cambelt interval ch...

A Crashed Modified B5 Saloon - Silver

Was coming back from Cardiff yesterday and spotted on the other side of the motorway a crashed B5 saloon. It was silver with the lower black plastics colour coded, had what looked like 18" RS4 alloys on and the rear lights were tinted a dark colour. It was also lowered slightly. Sorry can't rem...

Re: Car Advice Please...

How about an '04+ plate Jaguar S-Type 2.7 V6 diesel. Theres loads on auto trader for a shade under £10K, offers luxury, auto diesel and the 'old man' image. The 2.7 V6 derv engine is actually pretty powerfull although only as economical as a 2.0 petrol. Failing that get a late MK3 Ford Mondeo 2.0 T...

Re: Sold for all the wrong reasons......

The 20vT can be good on fuel, but I'm an enthusiastic driver so it was killin me, especially when fuel prices hit £1.12 a litre. My petrol was going nowhere and fuel stops were more frequent

I bet the W8 is good on fuel,

If you dont drive it :D

Sold for all the wrong reasons......

....my beloved B5 20vT Sport: http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff272/loweredgolf/Pictures202-1.jpg Had a baby on the way last year and with rising fuel costs etc I made the decision to sell her. She had about 69K on the clock, was mint inside and out, had just had a full cambelt kit and water pump...

Re: HOW MUCH YOU PAID FOR YOUR PASSAT???

I paid £3400 19months ago for a 1.8t (99) 59000 on the clock, completely bog standard. Spent £30 for a full valet inside and out, because i didn't have the stuff, but now i have. Crikey!! In Feb this year I bought a '99 Sport 1.8T for £2000 with 66K on the clock. I then sold it a few months ago for...

Re: is 295 miles per tank right ? 1.8T

I used to have a 99 1.8 T and to a full tank of mixed driving I'd get 300 miles (give or take a bit). It sounds about right what you're getting at the moment. Only on long motorway journeys and grandad style driving will you see much more. It's one of the reasons I sold it. I've now got a MK2 Mondeo...

Re: Cooling Fault - Urgent Help Needed!

I don't think so as it was never a recall as far as I know. Theres a VW specialist near me in Irlam, Manchester (probably a bit far away from you though) which can do the cambelt and pump for £325. I paid £380 cash job when mine went. Ouch!! Is it definatly the pump?

Re: Remote Central Locking

Before you try anything expensive, buy a new battery for it (if you haven't done so already). Fit the battery etc. Now, with the car unlocked out the key in the door and tuurn the key to lock it. Once it's all locked press the unlock button on the key fob. That might work, sounds like you've been tr...

Re: dump valve

A remap ups the turbo boost, that means more boost pressure resulting in a louder noise from the dump valve.
