Thanks for trying to help But i have the standard stereo. I can connect with everything fine apart from the engine. The light turned itself off the other day for about 80 miles but now it has turned back on this morning.

I am just wanting some advice on fitting an outer CV joint myself. I usually do most things myself like brakes, suspension, exhaust, service etc. Not done a CV joint before. What tool do I need on my model to get the hub bolt out. and can the outer be done with the shaft still attached to the gearbo...

The light is back on again. Tried for 30 mins last night and tonight to get it to connect to the engine controller with no success. Well mine hasn't come back on yet so we shall see. If it does I will look into ordering the sensor.

Is the oxygen sensor, the lambda sensor?

I need new rear brake pads first which is priority.

Yeah is is the AZM there is only one engine code for the 2.0 8v isnt there?

I am guessing it it just the sensors as it isn't affecting the performance in any way.

are both the sensors the same so I could just buy one and test both?

Ok so I had the common issue of 'vcds lite can't sync baud rate'. So i tried changing the baud rate to 9600 as suggested on the forum and it now connects like 2 times out of 3. Yeah I didn't think it would be the speaker one.

Mine won't access the engine module which is where the fault will be coming from.

Can anyone else access the engine module?

I had about 3 faults scanning it myself. 2 cleared and were minor faults. - aircon pressure switch? - low voltage intermittent from the airbag controller? any ideas? anyway the 3rd fault wouldn't clear and the EML light is still on. The car came today. It only scans modules 1 and 2 then stops and doesn't communicate with either?

I am guessing it flashes 1st then goes solid? but yea if it shows a fault get it scanned, odd the coils were not on the recall though.. I'd invest £6.95 in an ebay special and install the free VCDS Lite on your own system, really handy for this kind of thing. Is there any chance you could link me ...

And it doesnt flash it just comes on with the key and then stays on when its started.

Is that vcds version capable of reading faults, what else can it do?

I have also put redex through mine.

It is running fine now. Will the light ever go out on its own it a fault clears or is it a scan job each time?

I just used the beru plugs which also have 2 electrodes. If anything these plugs have helped the car a lot.

Well the light is back on again but it is driving fine. So I will try and get it scanned again next week :/

It seems alright so far just keeping my fingers crossed.

Refurbed one of my alloys last night where it had lacquer peel and ordered new center caps.

Just tidying it up before i decide what route to go down with it.

New spark plugs seems to of fixed it and the light has stayed off so far

There were apparently 6 codes that came up. So he cleared them all and turned the light off. He wants me to see if it comes back on and then get it scanned straight away and hopefully there will be less or even once code to pin point to the problem. No Outstanding re-calls on my Passat. Will see what the scan says after I pick it up from work.

was it a 2.0 passat b5.5 you had?

What do I need to tell them just the reg or the chassis number as well?

This only has one coil pack with the four leads coming off it.

The scan will hopefully show up what the problem is tomorrow.
