Re: High idle 16tdi b8
High idle could mean it's trying to do a regen. Take it for a drive on a motorway or 'A' road for 20 minutes to see if that cures it.

Usually the pressure switch fault is just low gas. The switch is probably fine.

Re: HELP Immobilizer fault
The 7N0 canbus gateway is not a direct replacement for your original gateway. You need to also change your CCM to a 3AA unit plus a small wiring change. The immobiliser is in the CCM and needs programming by a professional.
What are you trying to achieve with the new gateway?

Re: Rain sensitive wipers
Wondering if the windscreen is a different type to what was originally fitted, ie. Insulated glass, green glass etc.
Perhaps the RLS needs coding to suit the new screen type.

It's probably the recirculation flap closing to stop you inhaling your own exhaust fumes.

Have you tried this....
Leave 'rain sensor inactive' unticked then switch off ignition and lock car for a few minutes to let the system go to sleep.

The only extra option you would get would be heated windscreen I believe.
No immobiliser in the CECM so straight swap then recode but it's a fiddle where it is.

Wondering if a new gel pad was fitted when the windscreen was replaced.
If the gel pad was dirty or damaged it might stop the RLS from working properly.

Re: Tandem pump bolts
Looking at pics on the Internet, it seems the loom socket is bolted in from the outside so if I'm lucky the socket might come out far enough to check the seal and maybe get some sealant on it. As long as the wiring has enough free play to allow it to come out.

Thanks mindriot.
I'm going to clean all around that area and see if it is the loom gasket that has failed.

Re: On/Off switch to replace dummy in centre dash?
Google 'PASSAT FUNK SWITCH'
This switch only fits into the bottom right hand blank due to its shape. It's a simple press for on/press for off switch.
There is also a 'TAXI' switch and heated front screen switch that fits in the same place.

Sorry I don't have A spare cluster.
There is (or was) a 'G' cluster on eBay. £370 if I remember correctly. Quite pricey but they are very rare at the moment. The 'G' is the latest 3D version.

I have had 3c8920981 'D' and 'G' in my 2010. I lost light and sight and convenience with both. A 3aa comfort module brought the convenience back. A 3aa bcm is needed for the light and sight menu.
Unfortunately, the 3aa bcm is not a straight forward retrofit.

Re: Coolant leak on AWX diesel. Now fixed :)
I'm hoping it's not going to be as involved this time as the pump can stay where it is. Just got to feed the new heater hose through the bulkhead to the matrix. Checked the coolant again this morning and there seems to be a few black dots floating in the header tank which looks like soot. Hopefully ...

Re: Coolant leak on AWX diesel. Now fixed :)
Just had a similar problem on my 2002 130pd.... Mrs B went out and came straight back in saying the car was complaining of low coolant. Had a look and sure enough the header tank was empty. I found a leak which was the small vent hose under the tandem pump from the radiator hose to the cylinder head...

Re: Wiper scratches on fancy windscreen
There is a different type of heated windscreen available for the Passat with no visible wires.
If you google 'VW climacoat windscreen' you can read about it. Not cheap but it does away with the heating element wires and also has the bonus of reflecting heat away from the cabin on hot, sunny days.

Re: Jarek's B6 Wagon - Skyline mod gone bad...
Do you have any tips on releasing this part from its position? I have the actual fuse box off but this part doesn't want to budge. Do I just lever it up or is there another way as I don't want to break anything.
Thanks Jarek.
