Re: Shopping list for cambelt change and air conditioning recon?
For belts and tensioners, I’ll only ever advocate INA Brand parts. For Aircon parts, I use NRF on both mine and customer cars. If you get a compressor, you’ll also need to replace the drier in the system, and I’d advise replacing the expansion valve which is located under the battery (There’s a join...

Re: Coolant leak after flange change
Hi folks 1.9tdi AFN. I had to change the plastic coolant flange that bolts to the side of the head as it was leaking around the join between the flange and the head. I swapped over the temperature sender from the old flange as well as the rubber washer, but the plastic push in clip broke!! I manage...

Timing belt change on 1999 1.9tdi
If you have basic tools and spannering skills you could do it yourself with some guidance. I can send you the proper factory instructions and advise on any tools you need etc. They are available for not too much cost. Would save you probably €500 or so, it’s not that involved a job. You will need VC...

Nice work, I did exactly the same last week before the Mot. All discs and pads, plus offside rear calliper. That side disc was messed up a little. And the calliper handbrake mechanism had broke. Handbrake came up really high and was hitting the centre arm rest. Now it’s 3 clicks. Glad I did everyth...

Hi all. I have a 1999 Vw passat b5 tdi (AFN) that has a coolant leak coming from the pump area. So after doing all the easy stuff (new Coolant pump, pump o-ring, plastic flange o-ring on the back of the housing), i haven't fixed it which has me thinking it's the o-ring between the pump housing and ...

2005 Passat TDI 130 Highline Huge Loss of power high pressure in rocker cover
Clogged EGR valve 99.999% Car has full service history so even at 182000 M, I don't reckon it need a new camshaft, cam folowers/tappets. I didnt have time to check the EGR valve but it has oil all around the union from ally to plastic. I found a video saying Passat diesel "Poor mans EGR blanki...

Re: 2005 Passat TDI 130 Highline Huge Loss of power high pressure in rocker cover
Hi Aiden, Yes it is. I can tell its coming from the air box and its making the airbox rattle which is making it all even louder. The EGR valve has an actuator arm for the flap, When it was ticking over the other day, I moved the arm, which opened or closed the flap and it shut the engine off. Its a...
