Re: Glow plug light illuminated workshop now warning
You just need to get it scanned.
Mine came on when my balance shaft went (170 BMR) then came on again when the actuator sensor went, also came on when I had an intermittent fault with cruise control. So those three problems brought on that light, and threw the car into limp mode also.

Re: Looking to buy a Passat 2007
Luckily for me the only thing I had to replace was the balance shaft, hex allen key, oil pump, oil filter, sump plug. Luckily for me the turbo cut itself off preventing any damage to that. Bare in mind I had driven almost a mile with the oil light flashing at me as I could stop anywhere safely... am...

Re: Looking to buy a Passat 2007
I wouldn't advise anyone on getting a Passat B6 2.0 170 unless you know everything has been replaced (like mine). My balance shaft went last week, luckily not as much damage as what could have been done...back on the road now. 1.9 is good but the refinements are a bit poverty. I went for the 2.0 tdi...

Re: Steering Column Lock - Am I looking repair bill about £1
Get it fixed before it goes because you will no doubt lose all power to the car including the EPB. Nightmare! Mine cost about £300 to be repaired. That included £100 coding from vw, £20 flatbed trailer, £75 part and labour to fit the part by an auto electrician with lots of experience of fitting...

Getting rid of my DPF as soon as I can.
Bloody thing! I run on super clean diesel and it makes very little difference I don't think. Looking into buying a mk2 Golf gti for the short work journey I do and keep the Passat for family days out...
Just get it removed.

Looks great.
The only thing im not sure about is on that last pic...the rear looks really high. I think with this style of wheel tucking would look even more awesome! That's just my thoughts though. Great choice in wheels, nice to see something a bit different.

Re: Coilovers
Ive been driving cars on coilovers for years, and with wheels with thin tyres. I find that the wheel/tyre choice makes more of a difference than the coilovers. I ran the coilovers with 17" monte carlos and wouldn't know it was on coilovers really...then put the 19", 20" on and it was ...

Re: Coilovers
I had FK AK Streets on mine. Only on there for 4 months, the only issue I found was one side had to be wound down more than the other on the rear to get it to sit even, maybe something to do with the weight of the fuel tank...who knows. Other than that they were fine for £200. Heres a pic of them o...

Re: Dreaded wet footwell :(
Well today I went out to clean the car, finished, thought I'd quickly bang the carpets off and guess what- soaking footwell. So much so that the mat is also wet! So I took the Plenum cover off again and decided to tighten up all the bolts on the plastic cover on the bulk head then put sealant around...

In addition to what the guys above have said, there is a company in Barnsley that can fit a whole new pipe that looks like a DPF pipe (£250) and remap your car. I will see if I can find the details if you are interested.

Is yours a 170bhp...if not then it wont have a DPF. Mine is a 2007, 170 and has one. Pain in the ass and causes hesitation regularly. I changed my fuel filter last year when I replaced the housing lid with a polished one...since then my car has been a pain! Waiting to change it again soon. Heres wha...

Re: Engine Fault Garage, steering column lock
The part is about £70. I paid a local auto electrician £70 to fit it, then got the car towed to VW. £101 for coding. What part? And what needs coding? Sorry I cant be more specific. All I know is that there is an electrical component that needs replacing then that component needs coding into the...
