check the pump pressure sounds like pump

after trying the purge yesterday which failed i changed the fuel filter and put the purge in the filter to run through out for a run today and a known route i have done a few times and mpg is up 3-4 mpg going to be checking the tandem pump pressure readings before i fit another one i have a feeling ...

It just would not pull the purge into the tandem pump
I have run pd engines before like that and it should but mine won't !

Next step change tandem pump !

Still oil change done today vacuum style so much easier!

no signs of leaks
My gut feeling is low pressure on the pump but gauge at work!

All the others i have done the tandem will pull the fuel or purge in but mine wont
It was a pig to get going after i had to prime the lift pump about 15 times with the fuel filter full before it would fire back up !

Right update time

Finlay had time to do injector purge and i think i have found the problem!

The tandem pump will not pull the purge through!

The consumption readings today @ idle jump from 0.6-0.8 l/h

i have to say it sounds like a cambelt fail or jump

check its there and not slack

Not yet its now done over 500miles on the new cam and i need to do the purge and oil change before i check the data
Was planning to do some this weekend but my back is playing up so has put a stop to that !

i would change the switch very common to fail !

whats the esp fault code?

i did mine pd cam
new oil and filter
remove injector loom plug crank to build oil pressure
run up for 25-30 min @ 2000-2500 rpm

then drop oil and change filter

run in 500 miles

then oil and filter change

steel billet cam and ina black top followers

Its in the head not the block

i think the core plug is in the head behind the cover about where the tensioner is

tandem pump pressure is where i would start

scan it and go from there

If you have no codes i would check the tandem pump pressure

if you have fuel flow when it cuts out then yes the lift pump is working

you need to check fuel pressure at the tandem pump

Do you have vcds to do a fault code scan?

yeah pull the pipe off connector into pipe clear pipe from connector to filter

ok the feed is the pipe on the left

The filter should have arrows on it for in and out

all you need is a small amount of 8mm clear pipe and connector to check for fuel flow

which filter do you have? early with cooler?
or that later one with four pipes and a valve?

check for fuel reaching the filter from the lift pump use a clear pipe
