Re: My B5 1.8 20v Sport

Wow! I reckon I will have to get me some wax! My car is sitting on a farm for a good few months yet so it collects dust really easily. Think I will get some autoglym polish and wax to see if that helps beep the dust off. I have just aquired a clay bar which I will also be having a shot at (noob to c...

Re: My B5 1.8 20v Sport

Havent done an update in a while. Well I bought and recieved my FK Street Coilovers. Delighted with the 2 day delivery service from Venom. Have been a bit busy with work but managed to fit some time in today to get the fronts on. Such a simple job. I read that folk were taking off the pinch bolt and...

Re: Gear linkage help!

Thanks for that Mindriot! I shall have a closer look when I next get out to my car. If it is the linkage thats the problem, where do I get one from? I have searched high and low! Im nearly certain its the rubber bush on the linkage thats causing the sloppyness. Ive had the ball joint out and it all ...

Re: Gear linkage help!

The gear stick has quite a bit of play so i took the gater off and had a look at the ball joint there and all looks well. No play up at that end. But underneath i can see movement in the bush on the linkage. The linkage also moves back and forth inside the gearbox so would there be a problem with th...

Re: My B5 1.8 20v Sport

I know a valeter that uses brick acid on alloys like yours-if the autosmart cleaner fails to shift the brakedust. He puts an amount into a plastic lid of a spray can, daubs the alloy with an old paintbrush leaves for a couple of minutes and then rinses thoroughly. (I haven't tried doing it myself mi...

Re: My B5 1.8 20v Sport

Looking good mate. Love the colour although im biased as mines the same. Coilovers straight forward to fit. Just give the upper arm pinch bolts a good penetrating oil soak a day before you do it. Top nut on the front shock can be a bit troublesome. Well mine were. Rears very easy mate. Cheers, the ...

I have a Kenwood single din KVT-526DVD. Originally I just plugged it in and it Worked fine, turned on with the ignition... But it wouldn't save my presets and settings ect so I swapped the ignition and battery wires over on the harness as advised on another forum. So now it comes on with my ignition...

Re: My B5 1.8 20v Sport - A work in progress

Attempted to clean my standard sport wheels which were quite dirty to say the least. Used various wheel cleaners which i had sitting around but they were no use at all. This includes wonder wheels which i find normally works quite well, but not this time. IMG_16032.jpg IMG_16042.jpg So i have just o...

Re: My B5 1.8 20v Sport

Another update: Went to the scrappy this morning and managed to find a lambda sensor off of a A4 estate with the exact same engine as mine (ADR), so got that on the exhaust today. Just a quick update. Fuel filter changed. The fuel that came out of that was nearly black!!? So I'm guessing that's never been Replaced before. Got my hands on some G30 coolant at nearly half price! Also got a new full standard exhaust, again half price! Bonus! It's handy to know the right people :D...

Yes it's really handy having the space to work on the car. And there is a 2 mile road where i can drive the car up and down to keep the wheels turning lol. Hah yeh I am basically counting down the weeks until I get my license back... 44 to go :-q Ah thanks for that, I will give it a go the next time...
