Central Locking Problem

A few weeks ago, I ran down the battery whilst listening to the radio as I watched my son play football. I had to jump start the car and then took her for a spin to recharge the battery and she has been fine since except for one thing: The key button will only open the drivers door on the first clic...

Re: Loss of Power Going Uphill

Thanks Diseasel - those are very reasonably priced. The N75 valve is a bit steeper in price but I'll give all a good inspection to look for any obvious signs for replacement.

Re: Loss of Power Going Uphill

Thanks for the reply Terence. It does run fine the rest of the time. Once I switch her off and then on again, she's back to normal until the next hill (usually but not always). I haven't bothered redoing the engine management light tbf as I thought it was more hassle than it was worth.

Loss of Power Going Uphill

I have a 2002 1.9 tdi which I bought just two months ago. I know someone previous has had the dash out and disengaged the engine management light and I'm guessing I have an airflow problem but I'll describe it in full and ask for your opinions: I have spent the weekend away in Donegal and this is my...

Re: Gamma radio problem

Please ignore this one as the problem is now solved. I typed the issue into Google and got directed to a volkswagen/audi forum where a few peeps suggested unhooking the battery. However, one person suggested unhooking the stereo for 10 seconds to make it reset itself when plugged in again. Hey prest...

Gamma radio problem

My radio isn't working properly and I don't know if it's something I've done. The problem is that none of my pre-stored channels will work on their respective buttons. When I switch the car on, there is no sound and a blank lcd screen. None of the buttons will select a channel but if I hit the right...

Rear Foglight

This is probably an old question but here goes. I just passed MOT on Wednesday morning but the guy advised me that my rear foglight wasn't working. When he pulled the light switch out, nothing showed up on the dashboard to indicate it was on and obviously no additional rear light showed on the clust...

CD Changer

A breakers yard close to me has a CD changer left in the dash but no changer in the car. Will the unit in the dash work as a single CD unit? It seems to have a slot for a CD on the front but says changer on it.

Re: Radio/Cassette Problems

It's okay - I have it sussed from reading further on down: Its jumping into TP Phone mode for the old Nokia system that was installed. I've just ordered a set of keys to remove the stereo from its mounting and rip the old phone wiring out. Pain in the rear end until then though. ~x(

Radio/Cassette Problems

I've got a 2002 1.9 TDI which I just bought at auction last week. When I test drove it, I could get barely any sound from the stereo and only if it was turned up to the max. I also noticed that it didn't switch off when I removed the key. When I collected it the next evening, the stereo was working ...

Re: Owners Handbook - Help

Thanks folks. There a couple guys breaking same era cars locally to me so I'll give them a go as I also need a window washer bottle as mine seems to permanently leak. There must be a decent crack in it somewhere and as I've booked a timing belt service etc. for next week, best to get all done at onc...

Owners Handbook - Help

Hi folks, I bought my 2002 TDi Passat S last week at auction and naturally, there was no owners handbook or any other documentation with it. I have tried looking for a downloadable pdf on the net but can't seem to find a credible link for one. Does anyone have a working link or do I just have to sou...

Newry Newbie

Hi folks, just bought my first Passat as a general workhorse and chiefly to tow a caravan. It's a 2002 1.9 TDI in yeuchy green with 148000 miles on it and it only cost me £620.00 at auction. I'm planning on getting the timing belt and water pump changed as a priority and a good service all for peac...
