Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Update: The new balance shaft and hex is in, the oil pump module is rebuilt and ready to go back on the car. I just need to get my head around how to get the crank in the optimum position to accept the module and how to use the balance shaft re-alignment key. Mitch kindly sent me a workshop manual s...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Indeed, kit 9 is winging it's way to me, I've found a kit on ebay that will lock the crank etc and also includes the balance shaft alignment tool so that's on it's way too! I must stop looking at scrappage deals while I wait for the bits to arrive!

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Hi Mitch, mine is gear driven which is surprising given that it's a 2005 car with the BKP engine, all the research I'm doing suggests mine should be chain driven. I wasn't aware of having to lock the engine but I can see why that would be necessary, I'll have a look for a kit on ebay that includes t...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
ok, the balance shaft is out and is definitely the culprit, the hex key is worn and slips. I've ordered the kit from KMB and it should be here tomorrow. I am also going to change the oil pressure sensor while I wait for the parts to arrive, can anyone explain where it is please? I've had a good look...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
I'll put a pic up once I've got the pump in bits, even if it looks fine I'll replace the hex with a longer one.
It would be just my luck for it to have been the switch all along.

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Update: The oil pump is out, I've cleaned it up and now need to remove the balance shaft. The hex drive looks to be OK so far, but it may be a different story once removed. There were no signs of the strainer being blocked and there was no sludge whatsoever in the bottom of the sump, I was amazed at...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Got the car recovered home last night, will get the sump off over the next few days and report back on the results. Thanks everyone for the advice and support, I'll let you know how it goes. I've been using the 5w 30 long life oil, it's been suggested to me that this can cause blockages in the strai...

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
I need to go through the service history, from memory there were two stickers in the boot well, one related to the injectors being replaced under warranty and the other one I thought related to the oil pump. I'll check it out once I've got the car back.

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
I'm reading horror stories about dropping the subframe or removing the engine to get to the sump, if that's the case I'll have to recover it to garage as I'm not equipped for stuff like that.

Re: Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Thanks for the reply Mitch, I will take your advice and get the car recovered home. I was wearing my rose-tinted spectacles and hoping that the oil level being on the low side, coupled with the steep hills might have generated a false reading. I guess the first thing to do is to get hold of an oil p...

Oil Pressure Warning Light and Limp Mode
Hi all, I'm wondering what your thoughts might be on the following situation please? My car is a 2006 2.0 TDI 140 16v Estate, with 140,000 miles. It's had a recent cam belt and water pump and I'm 99% sure it has had the oil pump drive upgraded before I owned it. On Saturday I was in deepest darkest ...

Re: Radiator Fan Control Unit
Thanks Richard, just to give a little more information, I have had the high pressure switch replaced and the aircon regassed recently. Once the car's engine is up to temperature, the AC works regardless of the car's speed, it even works at idle. As long as the fan is on, then the AC is on. I do have...

Radiator Fan Control Unit
Morning All, I have a minor problem with my 2006 2.0TDI 140 B6, just wondered if anyone on here had resolved a similar issue? When the car is cold and the AC is switched on, the AC does not override the radiator cooling fan into coming on. Thus the AC does not work. Once the engine temperature hits ...

Re: putting 18" wheels on B6 wagon
Hi, it is standard suspension all round, no towing, I really like the later shape Golf R32 wheels, so would be cool if they went straight on without any issues.

putting 18" wheels on B6 wagon
Hi guys, I've tried my best to like my 17" wheels, (Le Mans) but I really want 18" on the car.
Am I safe if I buy any set of VAG wheels that are 5 x 112, or do I need to watch out for offsets and the like?
Any pointers gratefully received. Cheers

Re: B6 wheel upgrade
it's costing me £50 per wheel including a fair bit of prep work as there's a few chunks missing on a couple of the wheels. They would have removed and refitted tyres but as I work somewhere with the tyre removing kit I just gave them the loose wheels. They should be ready to collect tomorrow so wil...

I've been keeping a look out for an R36 grill, but they seem to be impossible to get hold of 2nd hand.

Re: B6 wheel upgrade
Cheers Gaz, the Le Mans wheels are ET47, 7.5J x 17H2, tyres are 235/45/17, I wonder what the widest offset is I can fit without problems? http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autobloggreen.com/media/2007/01/volkswagen-passat-2007-tdi---22.jpg It might be easier just to pick up a nice set of 17" Monte Car...
