Hello!
My manual 2008 tdi 6 speed has developed a sloppy gear stick and I am struggling to get gears, reverse is non existant. In 2nd the gear stick moves from side to side like in neutral, there is no resistance!
What on earth have I broke now!?

Re: Bike rack
You can't obstruct your rear lights I don't think, so I would have thought you would need towbar Electrics and have another light unit fitted to the bike rack. Yeah you could just not bother with a light unit but not really advised obviously! Alternatively it's a roof rack and bike racks, done it th...

Re: power
It won't be obvious if done correctly which involves removing the innards of the dpf, welding it back up, you then can't tell a thing as it's not visible. As for the emissions testing, that could be very soon or years away. I haven't heard anything concrete myself as regards to testing for a dpf, ar...

Maybe if you replied decently mindriot instead of coming across like a big headed arrogant c##t, that might be a better way to reply to folk! Just saying!

Isn't there room for adjustment on the pulleys. It's measured some how in vcds, seen it myself.

Re: Highline heated mirrors
Have you adjusted the wing mirror knob to 12 O clock position to enable the heat. This only works in conjunction with pressing the rear Window de Mister

All I want to do is remove the f ing ashtray!
Hello! I want to remove the ashtray housing on my b6 so I can change the bulb for the cigarette socket as it doesn't light up the tray. I removed all the buttons and blanks around the gear stick plus the gaitor. Took out the ashtray, removed the 2 screws in the bottom but it appears the surround aro...

Re: Rear discs and pads
I tried this job last week, carrier bolts would not move, access poo and I was short of time.
40 quid, 1 hours labour at the garage, job done, worth it in my opinion!

Re: P00016 Code on Failed Start
Thank You Mitch that's gotta take a Hall of Fame of best answers, seriously detailed. It wasn't something I'm happy to do myself so it's gone in today. Had the issue twice last Wed, then Thurs, Friday and not at all since. What's interesting is it only does it on wet days ( so far ). Thanks Again H...

Re: P00016 Code on Failed Start
I have the same fault I think, but it doesn't flag up on the dash but I can see it when I use vcds. Mine is usually a few seconds or a minute into a journey on a cold engine. My cambelt was also done a few months back but wasn't showing up then. I assume it's timing related but haven't looked into i...

Re: drop in mpg
Is it not worth checking to dpf soot levels seeing as you have had the internals cleaned, that poo has to go somewhere.

Tdi engine cover grommets/bushes
Does anyone have a part number for the tdi engine cover bushes that sit in the cover itself, mine are rubbish and perished.
Thanks

Re: Thinking of a re-map
I have a dtuk box which serves me well and I find I can drive it like a petrol as it pulls right thru the rev range which can only be a good thing having a dpf to keep clean!

Front end squeak
The front end of my passat is squeaking over large speed bumps. After a little search I read it could be the front control arms? Also read you need to buy an alignment set, how do these work? You need to take them out again so you surely loose the alignment when refitting the original bolts!? Sent f...

Re: DPF Light but no fault codes
Tried that, no joy. The coil light then came on so doubt that would allow it to clear.

This 2.0tdi cr passat is turning out to be a pile of poo!
Dpf light is on, not one fault code stored, what's that all about!?

Re: New springs dilemma
Well you get in some cars and you feel the bump but it appears effortless. My passat doesn't seem to glide over road effects, seem to feel it all! I can't describe a noise as such, you just seem to feel every lump and bump in the road.

Re: New springs dilemma
Does anyone else's passat make noises over bumps, mines a highline on 17's and 45 profile tyres. It's not a drop link or anything that's bad, it's as though the car is rubbish at absorbing any road defects!
