Re: power steering track rod ball joint
Hi CT Thanks for reply post. Helpful post. Actually saw your photos of ball joint adjustment height some days ago. So got the adjuster bolt out and now just waiting for delivery of gaiter / bellows fitting clips . The seller forgot to put them in the kit ! So looks like plain sailing from here. Best...

power steering track rod ball joint
Hi Dubbers ! MOT failure on steering gear rubber bellows. Seems a straightforward job. Slight problem though can't get the ball-joint adjustment bolt out of the strut. Only have Haynes manual and common sense to go by. Actually just re read the manual and it says remove adjustment bolt before the pi...

fault code scanner
Hi All Thinking of getting a scanner to check quiescent current battery drain and just thought I would post asking for advice on suitable devices. Have seen on ebay OBD scanners. Are these good for B5 Passat? There is a 16 pin socket just by the hand brake. Will this be the access to the management ...

Re: battery quiescent current drain
Hi Mindriot Looks like it is a B5. P regd. 1997. 50k miles, £500. Saloon, 1596cc, longitudinal engine. Will have a look at alternator. doesn't look too difficult to get at (unlike oil filter !) Talking of oil filter can't get mine to budge presently. Will have to invest in proper spanner rather tha...

Re: battery quiescent current drain
Hi, just read your posts. Yeah, boot light staying on was first thought but took bulb out for comparison check. No change. Also there is no radio so rule that out. Don't think any plugs are connected for the radio but I'll check again. I think my car is a B4. How do you tell for sure. Nothing on the...

battery quiescent current drain
Hi Everyone My Passat has a bit of a problem when standing idle for a few days. The battery goes flat completely. I have a new battery fitted. I checked the current drain from the battery when it is stationary and idle and measures a little over 500mA. This seems too high to my mind. Does anyone kno...
