i had and have the same problem with my passat i think, ive changed the throttle body which sits next to the egr because that was gunked up and the flaps had stuck and broke it, i thought it was the egr or maybe the inlet manifold stripped it down cleaned the egr valve with brake cleaner and soaked ...

im having egr problems at the minute to be honest if it needs cleaning it will more than likley need replacing depending on year of car, mine is a 2006 pd engine with 140k and ive just replaced mine for £130 inc vat and labour, father in law is a mechanic

So here is the problem ethos, in the summer last year had a new throttle body due to the motor failing and blowing the fuse for the fan, so got a new throttle body, over Xmas car wouldn't start so called the AA they said new battery so hit a new battery all sorted they did scans no faults found. So had my throttle body replaced as per other post i had on here a while ago as thought it was EGR issue, wasnt turned out to be needing a new throttle body, replaced it emmisions light went out for a few weeks drove lovely, however on saturday went to take the car out stupid emmisions light back on...

take it to vw and they will automatically open a case it shouldnt be problem as its done under warrenty they will either replacve just the lights or depending on how rusty the tailgate is, either respray it or as on mine replace the whole boot FOC!!!!!

Egr wasn't that bad it was the other bit and has also blown the fuse for the fan so will change that at the same time I got a price of £60 for the part

It's def not egr the mechanic who looked at it says it's the latter it's been apart and the egr has been cleaned and wasn't to gunked up it was the other part that he said was bad which I believe is the flap your talking about code says v157 motor manifold flap error

Update now have codes 1st one is p3102 & 2nd is p3101 do what part do I need to replace now I know it's not egr valve it says about inlet manifold?

I think it's a wiring problem a bus took out the drivers side last year was repaired at their cost but ever since then the bulb replacement light comes on from time to time and the light doesn't work then all of a sudden it works again

yeah just pulling the liner back is what the video showed to me that seems the easiest way of keeping my knuckles with skin on them!!!
