My understanding is that it will do its best, without using the AC to its full capacity, if at all. My Laguna used to have two stage AC. Kinda like that.

Re: does anyone actually like climatronic?

I like it. THe annoying thing I found when I first got the car was that you have to actually SELECT Econ rather than it defaulting that setting. Once thats sorted, I just use Econ other than w/screen demist (which kicks in the SC anyhow).

Re: xeons headlights

Justin has fitted some on his. He reckons they will plug and play, but the auto and manual level motors are different. You can't use your standard levelers in the bi-xenon lamps, so the won't be adjustable. I don't think that should be a problem. How often do you adjust your standard lights? I neve...

Re: Steering Fighting Back - '98 B5 TDI

Mine has started doing this, and at the same time there's a knock now on the front end. I had it checked out the other day, as its obviously something on its way out. Turns out both the upper arms on the front drivers side are shot, so theyre getting done asap. So have a play around with the wheels ...

If i was to spend good money on a car i would want service history and not just stamps in a book because they can be bought. I have every single receipt, even for the battiers and bulbs from the last owner, but should I carry it on ? :-? Yes, doesn't mean you have to have receipts from main agents,...

Mate, you asked my opinion. I passed it on. It is entirely up to you weather you want to carry on. But put it this way. I have mates in the trade and the more S/H you can provide the more you get for the car.

The more you have to back it all up, the more reassurance you have for the next owner and the more premium you can command. Simple!

If i was to spend good money on a car i would want service history and not just stamps in a book because they can be bought. I personally think that its the receipts for work carried out/parts that make the service history, not some little book thats been stamped by 'M.Y. Workshops' and 'B Ullshit ...

Re: Possible to get to boot mechanism when its stuck shut?

I had to open my boot from inside the car as I managed to jam it shut and the central locking wouldnt work properly on it. I couldnt be arsed to dick about. I literally pulled back the top edge (ripped the screws out as theyre only self tappers) adn managed to get to it from there.

But I could see by the intermittent puddle light coming on and off when I shook the door that there is deffo something loose inside.

Re: HELP! - Cant Open Rear Passenger Side door

Im actually gonna try hitting the front door loch mechs today and get a rear one ordered. Got a quote for £140+ vat fitted by the specialist. The part is £90+ vat from the Stealer, so gonna get a used one from the Bay and fit that.
Rear one playing up and making alarm sporadic too! GREAT!

Re: HELP! - Cant Open Rear Passenger Side door

My local VAG Specialist quoted me something like £200 + vat to do this as its a 2 hour job. They also dont guarantee no damage as you have to try and get the door card off etc with the door shut. Not easy!

Re: Fitting/Running Merc Wheels - Advice

What I did when I bought the Merc fitment bolts was push a std VW wheel bolt thro the Merc wheel (it was very tight, but the fronts went thro) They were just over flush, so I then worked out how many threads the VW bolts needed to bolt up properly and then basically got wheel bolts with the extra le...

Re: Fitting/Running Merc Wheels - Advice

If I were you, Id wait til you have the wheels before you purchase any bolts. You need to measure the std VW bolts relative to the Brabus and then buy bolts to match the requirements (wheels are different thickness, Merc traditionally thicker than VW, hence the need for longer bolts. You may find yo...
