Re: Had a go at repairing cloudy lights ?

I did mine with the 3M headlight restoration kit. They came up really well. I managed to restore the headlights on my Passat, my Golf Gti's also a friend's Signum lights with the same kit. The kit only costs £20 ish so pretty good value for the return I got. After I'd treated them I polished with M...

Re: ISOFIX car seat brackets

The near side 4motion wagon bracket part number I have got was part number 3B5813545A.

They should be able to find you the off side one when they punch this in to etka.

Re: ISOFIX car seat brackets

Yeah I got the correct isofix bracket in the end for my 4motion, I only got a near side/passenger one as I've only got one nippa at the moment. TPS supplied me the wrong ones to start with and then I had go in with the part numbers in hand. I'll dig out the invoice in a bit for the part number.

Re: paint 12year warranty

Picked my 4Motion up from Wrexham VW this morning. Both front wings replaced. They have done an excellent job, the wings are perfect as you would expect but they have also blown in both front doors to colour match. Full valet as well, which is pretty good standard too. All in, a stress free and easy...

Re: paint 12year warranty

Based on the information in this thread I visited My local VW bodyshop to attempt to get the rusting/bubbling front arches on my '53 plate Passat sorted. I took it to Wrexham VW and I have been very impressed with service so far. The bodyshop guy had quick look, took pictures of both arches and the ...

Re: Xcarlink with RCD300 + Changer

I have an RCD500 with xcarlink ipod adaptor on my mk 5 Golf. It was a fairly easy fit with no drilling to get cable to glove box. I also have one in my b5.5 passat, this did need glove box removal and i drilled a small hole next to the light/bulb holder. I would imagine fitting in a B6 passat would ...

In answer to my own question. The part numbers are different for a 4Motion wagon and they are sided.

I haven't got them to hand but I will update when I do.

Re: ISOFIX car seat brackets

I have just attempted fitting these to my 4Motion wagon but the part numbers listed do not appear to fit on my car. The pre drilled holes on my car are about an inch and a half narrower than the bracket  Has anyone fitted these brackets to their 4Motion/Syncro?? Is there a different part number...

Re: Alloy wheel and tyre insurance?

I work for a BMW main dealer and I have sold tyre and alloy wheel insurance products for the last fe w years. I have dealt with the claims process. In my experience they are both good value products, I often wonder how the insurer actually makes any profit at all in them. If you got it for free you'...

I'm a biker, i'm based in chester. I am at Llandegla or Snowdonia most weekends when I'm not working. Let me know if you are planning a trip and would be more than happy to meet up.
The new black trails at Llandegla are awesome, well worth making the trip over for them.
What you riding?

Re: New Windscreen Tips Please !

I have just had the screen replaced on ed30 golf, I requested an oem screen but insurance company (admiral) advised that I would have to pay the difference between a non-oem and the vw item. was looking to be around £350 for the oem one so I chose to get a non-oem screen for £70. I know the guy at...

I did interlaken in Switzerland, over the Alps into Italy (lake orta) and then through the Mont Blanc tunnel into French alps. I had roof box and two bikes on the back. Re: Vw Campervan-Split, Bay or newer?

I've just returned from a 1300 mile tour of Scottish highlands and isle of skye in a t5 camper conversion. i was massively impressed with it, the 84bhp engine sounded like it would be slow but it had so much torque it cruised at 80 easily and returned 35-40mpg. I am seriously hooked and currently lo...

i have just had to seal the pollen filter housing on my b5.5 passat. After last weekend's downpour I had damp carpet in passenger footwell. I have previously had blocked plenum drains on a B5 that I had, I checked for this again first and they were fine. Then checked the pollen filter housing seal a...

A punch and a big hammer did it for me. I tried heat and drilling, neither worked.
A big hammer and a fair old whack got it in the end.

Good luck!

Re: Musty air con smell

Try an aircon refresh, I had mine done at work and all smells great again. We use a Wynes air con refresh that also desanitises the system. This needs to be done at a dealer/someone with the machine to do it. I think most main dealers can do them for £30-40. Alot of dealers have an offer on them th...

Re: 4motion MPG

Yep i agree, you're doing pretty well if you're getting 40mpg. I've had my tdi 4motion estate for 18 months and it rarely gets above 40 mph, its usually 37-40. Mine is remapped as well and this made little difference to mpg. As said above, its permanent 4x4 so it is going to be lower than the fwd ve...

I get your tracking checked if just outer edge. Doesn't cost too much to just have it chescked, I think I paid about $10. Only costs if you have to get it adjusted. That's your best bet to start with.

Just thought I'd post a response to my earlier post about my abnormal tyre wear. I was getting wear on inner and outer edge of offside front tyre.
