mudflap removal, looks heaps better, and with the 300kg of mud and gravel that come out, a heck of a lot lighter too. :esm

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

6 new sparkies for the AXZ. Brown sludge in one well, couldn't work out what it was, until I got to the 6th well and found some little pellets on top of the valve cover, looks like a rat or mouse had set up home at some stage and rat poo got into the 5th spark plug well. Thankfully it had been baked...

Re: metal fans??

dragonforce? isn't really metal though.... Yeah, they are, epic metal, I think its called. They are touring NZ at the moment, had wondered about going, I used to listen to them 10 years ago, but I kind of got bored with the repetitiveness of the music. More into A7X, Metallica, B4MV, and of course ...

Re: tyres

I guess it depends how one drives. I don't think the age of the car should in any way affect the tyres put on. If you don't want to bin it, or if you drive...briskly, then surely you go for the best tires you can afford(justify). The wife had Starmaxx on her saab (after a trip to Ireland requiring n...

Re: recommend some tyres

I'm at odds what to put on my VR6 4motion. when I bought her 6 weeks she was shod with some now discontinued Supercats, which are bridgestones budget line, and they aren't wrong, awful awful things, loud and dangerous in anything slightly moist, let alone full on wet. I had loved my Bridgestone RE00...

Re: VW PASSAT B6 YOUR OPINION

I'm glad I petrol then. Apart from the EPB switch mine seems sweet. She's got 90,000 miles and under the bonnet looks brand new still. My only gripe is the rear demister, takes about 10 minutes to warm up, then it turns off. My old Saab would be up to temperature in seconds and have the window clear...

B6 3.2 air intake

So I was having a poke around on the weekend to check that everything is pukka under the bonnet, and in doing so I noticed the air intake from the grill appears to go through a 2 level intemediary before it hits the airbox. It looks really inefficient though. The air intake appears to go straight ah...

Re: Fuel economy

Same here, fill to the brim every time, especially here in NZ, prices can fluctuate more than I remember them fluctuating in London. Currently averaging about 33.6mpg in my 3.2, but that is after a weekend away (only got her last Friday), now I am back to commuting, I fear it will go down considerab...

Re: Air filters

I'm not convinced performance filters offer any performance, however, on every car I have owned for the past 10 years I have always got one, normally Pipercross, I don't know why, I just have. One thing that is noticeable however, is noise. My Wifes Saab 9-3 now has an audible intake noise, wasn't s...

Re: EPB failure

I picked up my 3.2 4Motion last Friday, it has been fine on the test drive, a week before, but on the way to work the EPB error came on the dash. I thought it was the dreaded motor failure, but it appears to just be an intermittent switch failure, so I've got one on order. Having read about the moto...
