Re: Anyone know a good garage in Suffolk?
I got the main dealer to do it, they gave us a car for the day, checked over our car and sent us a video report, picked up a few minor problems, they replaced a buld and gave it a valet. I know it cost a little bit more than an indi but it was done properly and with no dramas, my local indi said he ...

Re: Mice!
Perfect , thank you, I caught three in it last night, all in the passenger footwell. They must be following the scent that has been left behind by the previous mice? Looks like I need to go to war with them!

Re: Mice!
Cats probably not a good idea with leather! Cat pee will stink, Poison might not be a good idea because a dead mouse in the dash somewhere will stink! If they are nesting in there somewhere there cant be that many of them surely? I cant stop them from getting in so I need to repel them somehow, I mi...

Re: Mice!
Caught two tonight in traps in the cabin, two of the bloody things! I need to get some sort of repellent. I don't understand why they are going in there, the car is clean inside and out, the only thing I can think of is warmth. I might chuck a load of bleach down around the engine bay but I don't wa...

Mice!
I few weeks back I noticed a pair of headphones in the glove box had been nibbled by something, then I had a look under the bonnet and found the black foam ontop of each wing just before the scuttle panel had been chewed! So I put a mouse trap ontop of the battery in the engine bay and one in the pa...

Re: is the B6 a good car or not
95 diesels have a problem with the breathers and the result is sludge cloging up the oil pump strainer resulting in engine failure, there is a fix by putting a modified breathing system in but if you don't know about it its too late when you find out.

Re: is the B6 a good car or not
No you are right but all engines have their faults, 9j engines self destruct, K series heads, B207 timing gear, Saab sludge, so to say a car is a bad car because it will need fixing at some point is a but pointless.

Re: is the B6 a good car or not
Or perhaps it was a cost thing, putting da hex keyway into a shaft isn't easy. But then again neither is a splined keyway, I reckon they had manufacturing difficulties or design problems, they can't judge how long that would last and the last thing they want is key failure on cars still under warran...

Re: Balance shaft hex key removal
I phoned VW and they told me the only way to find out what key I have is to drop the sump and look at it, they did say there may be a way around it and we will chat to the technician when they do the cam belt, I cant see there being a way around it other than fit new parts.

Re: Balance shaft hex key removal
Did VW ever fit longer keys? And will the original shaft take a longer key? Also what wears first? I'm thinking I may just fit a new key in mine as preventative maintenance.

Re: is the B6 a good car or not
If you google most cars most will have issues, this is normal, machines wear and require fixing, there is no such thing as a car that doesn't break down or require repairing at some point.

Re: is the B6 a good car or not
2008 cr engine, can't fault it, lovely to drive, decent spec, 55 / 60 mpg, comfy, it just eats up the miles, bags of room for kids and pram etc, its had the manifold done, cam belt next week, clutch soon, but this is just normal stuff for any car, 180k on the clock and pulls like a train, 1400 quid ...

Re: Anyone know a good garage in Suffolk?
I just checked and a main dealer in Ipswich can do a belt and pump for £449, that doesn't seem bad for a main dealer.

What is this long life oil you speak of? And where can I buy some? My car is due a full service and I will be changing the oil, I think my car has the long service period thing, is there a way to check?

MOT Rear tyres?
The tyres look new from the outside all the way across the tread however, up on the ramps today the inside bit of the trye from where it meets the sidewall to where it meets the road was so worn you could see the wire. How can this happen? Ive never seen uneven wear as bad as this before, from one e...

B6 Head unit, need blue tooth.
Ive got the single CD / MP3 head unit, I need blue tooth and aux input, is there a VW head unit that will do this and is it a straight swap? I don't really want aftermarket, also, I have controls on my steering wheel, will these still work or do I need to upgrade them as well?
