I got this intermittent fault where the drivers door springs back when I shut it, the latching mechanism isnt locking in the closed position, neither the first or second click. A few slams later and it shuts. Ive given it a dose of WD40 and will see how it goes.
Am I looking at a new mechanism?

Re: 2009 B6 TDI CR engine MIL light on
Yeah I thought it was too good to be true too, phoned up VW again to double check and apparently the shaft isnt available separately! So what did they quote me for? They didn't know! Good job I double checked!
Ordered the KMB kit and it arrived today, should be fitted tomorrow or Monday.

Re: CR cbab td b6, oil pressure test?
Cool, thanks, the shaft, key and timing tool arrived today, so how do you lock off the CR engines? If I lock the crank there shouldn't be a need to lock off the cam as well as the belt isnt coming off?

Re: CR cbab td b6, oil pressure test?
Thankyou, any ideas on the tool required to lock the balance module in the required orientation (edit - just found it on the KMB web site)? I take it setting the engine in TDC then marking the balance cogs wont do the job?

Re: CR cbab td b6, oil pressure test?
So I lock it up at TDC, how do I align the balance module? Are the cogs marked? Can anyone give me a link to the guide for the PD engine please?

Re: 2009 B6 TDI CR engine MIL light on
No , Im not just fitting the key, id have it done by now is I was to do that, in fact I would probably just flip the old one and reinsert it! No, Its getting a new shaft as well, old shaft is totalled, but Im fitting parts from VW like for like, it comes to just over 50 quid plus the vat. Key , shaf...

Re: 2009 B6 TDI CR engine MIL light on
To keep the costs to a minimum, original lasted 180k and 11 years so a replacement shouldn't wear out anytime soon, if it were my car I would fit the kit but it isnt.

Re: 2009 B6 TDI CR engine MIL light on
I just had the parts priced up from main dealer, 48 for the drive gear, 72p x 4 for the bolts, key was less than a tenner, this was like for like on a CR engine, its done 180k so I see no reason to fit an upgrade kit, ten years ago when it was newer then maybe, if you want the 100mm upgrade from the...

Another thing to be aware of this is a high pressure system, 7 bar according to Autodata if I remember correctly, thats just over 100 psi!

Re: CR cbab td b6, oil pressure test?
Yeah the 2000 rpm thing is a worry, you could poodle along on a motorway for miles and miles at below 2000 rpm and not notice a fault! It wouldn't be difficult to fit an aftermarket gauge just to monitor things but why go to the bother when you can just get it checked, even replacing like for like w...

Re: CR cbab td b6, oil pressure test?
Couldn't agree more, luckily this one was pulled over straight away and no further damage arose, but the fact is its hard to tell until you get the pump working again so we still don't know for sure. So preventative maintenance is the best fix for these, if you own one get it checked, the labor cost...

Re: CR cbab td b6, oil pressure test?
Im not convinced I need to lock the engine up at TDC to take the balance gear off, surely if the cogs are all marked up and the engine doesnt turn while its off?

Tested negative, no pressure at all, sumps off, is there a way to test the pump drive gear without taking the balance gear off? Its a gear drive.

Is there a better way than connecting he gauge to the oil pressure switch socket on the filter housing? It's a bit of a dig to get to it.

Re: B6 Estate, no power to number plate lamps?
I ended up ordering two from VW, they worked out cheaper than Eurocarparts at 12 quid each, the connectors are badly corroded so I will have to get inventive about wire connections but I should be able to sort something.
