Re: Methods for raising sump/engine

Cheers for all the replies guys! In that case I'll probably give the washers a go when I change my mounts because they are leaking anyways and cabin vibration is awful, especially at idle. On that front, is the cabin of my 1.9TDI meant to shake much at idle, or should it be smooth? Because the diffe...

Methods for raising sump/engine

So I've lowered my car on 30mm Eibachs and I'm worried about how low my sump is sitting. I've seen this https://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=45226 guide, where the washers go under the engine mounts, but after reading about broken engine mounts I'm kind of scared to try it out. https://...

Re: Considering a stage 1 remap

I made my own stage 1 remap on my TDI 130. It's a very similar process with other TDI engines. You definitely feel the difference in power. As far as tunes go, if you go the DIY route you can choose exactly what kind of power delivery you want. For example, in order to save my clutch, I didn't incre...

Re: 1BA to Eibach Pro-Kit conversion / suspension overhaul

Thanks for the feedback, that's a beautiful wagon! Great to hear the SKV arms are working well.
I think the drop is good, looks sporty without going over the top or attracting too much attention.
Did you have any issues with the front alignment after lowering?

1BA to Eibach Pro-Kit conversion / suspension overhaul

My 2003 FWD Highline 6-speed Wagon (AVF) is still on the original Suspension. Control arms, tie rods, springs, shocks ... the whole lot is still original. Only thing that has been replaced on the front axle is one wheel bearing and the outer CV joints. The car only has 138k miles, but it was parked ...

Re: Keeping our Passats running smooth..

Hi everyone, I've just been though this thread, and think i'll give it a go in my AVF passat. I chipped it myself to 150 PS, and it's noticeably louder at WOT now. Just had a couple of questions regarding the oil I should be using. I understand it should be JASO-FB spec. However, when looking at dif...

Re: PD130 Running Cold (60-80C)... can I still drive it hard?

I didn't swap out the CTS myself, my garage did it during the last service.... but as they only do VAG cars and work on plenty of B5.5s i'm pretty sure they got it right!

PD130 Running Cold (60-80C)... can I still drive it hard?

I've been driving my dad's stock B5.5 Wagon (6 Speed Manual with the PD130 AVF engine). It gets driven maybe 200 miles a month right now (except for when I visit), and isn't really being looked after - its been parked outdoors for 17+ years and it's in pretty rough condition (but only has 118k miles...
