Re: Wheres the Starter Motor relay fuse?

What you mean test Engine earth? If so how? Would this work as was reluctant to connect battery back up? Did circuit test on this and got no reading.

Does the multimeter put current down the cable when testing for circuit?

Re: Wheres the Starter Motor relay fuse?

Not sure what you mean. Just when connecting battery negative there was a big spark on that. Bigger than normal. Then a definite pop sound, then bit of smoke from where starter was resting.

Can you post screenshot of cable I need from ebay or anywhere? Is it the positive or negative etc

Thanks

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Did you change slave in that pic or somehow put push rod back on? Looks like it not there. Did you see my push rod bit came off. Nothing leaking and thought could tape it back up. Bought a replacement though.

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Dorset. Was going to do pilot and did get one. Looked too fiddly and could not get a good sight of it under car as not raised high enough. Will ask mobile mechanic if can do, as believe you can do it through the flywheel as I put that on. Cheers.

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

No chance getting it back in myself. Just could not do the final shove to mate back up to engine. Faffed around and over did it trying to raise the back up to much and slid jack back under Gearbox. Tipped forward and gave up trying to get back on trolley. Ratchet snapped too. Getting mobile mechanic...

Re: Wheres the Starter Motor relay fuse?

Thanks for reply. So if the motor potentially was not earthed when I connected the battery, would it have gone pop? Overheated or something etc which burnt oil on it? I removed it from position while dopping gearbox. I connected battery to get something out boot and that happened. It was a pop so th...

Wheres the Starter Motor relay fuse?

Trying to find Starter motor relay fuse. Looked everywhere under driver side panels. Even the relay bank behind the other one. Am I looking for a purple one or number 381? Cheers. Just trying to get part number off it in case I need to replace. See my Clutch thread for what happened.

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Yes just checked it as did not check before. It does fit and thats a good tip to always check thanks. Just struggling to get that final shove to match up. Bad surface does not help with wheels and ever so slight incline too. Might have a final try with some sheet metal under transmission jack and tr...

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Could not get it aligned and was a right struggle. Tomorrow will see if I have a long screw and nut to act as another dowel/guide. Will try to get it in a hole on each bell housing etc

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Changed my rachet strap to the right position but struggling to put gearbox back. Probably surface does not help wheels so might try putting something smoother down. Is a right pain trying to line it all up and hoping the input shaft goes ok through clutch plate. Any tips welcome.

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

It should be ok as that connection is straight to the battery. The smoke would be burning oil and poo. That's reassuring thanks. Was loads of oil yes on back and think it was blue smoke. Cleaned up a bit and from pic, the nut on back of Starter may have be against the other gold cable nut. Would th...

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

And scared myself today and learnt don't connect battery up until entirely finished job. I connected it to unlock boot and the negative sparked then was a pop, followed by burning smell and smoke from under engine left side. Looked like coming from Starter Motor. I think I had pushed the Starter Mot...

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Looked on web and saw it's the Clutch Guide Tube Mount which should come with a seal and oring. Bit pants mine only came with oring in my LUK clutch DMF kit I got.

People be aware you get this other seal in any kit you get.

Seal has to fit in back of it. Cheers

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Thanks for reply. The post before was about the seal behind flywheel which have replaced as per this pic. I have asked the supplier of the clutch kit for advice so hopefully will sort it out. In my mind as it came out inside back of throwout bearing back plate, can only put new seal in there and not...

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Would anyone know if I put the new seal in the back of new throwout bearing back plate or put down the gearbox shaft in Bell housing and press in? From my pics the old one was in the back of the one I took out. Has to be that new seal goes in back of bearing but just checking. Cheers

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Just spotted this gasket had gap in it so maybe oil from leak outside might get in there. Anyone know where to buy replacement as cant find at moment? Thinking might just put high temp sealent there if put back on. Cheers. - UPDATE - believe could be Bell Housing 'Spacer' not some sort of gasket.

Re: Quoted 1k for Clutch and DMF so its DIY!

Think oil leak coming from outside gearbox from top. Knew I had a slow leak somewhere. I have new crankshaft oil seal but reluctant to mess around anymore and change as old Clutch and DMF had no oil on them. Also was planning pilot bearing but very difficult to see when under the car. Cheers.
