Re: B5.5 TDi Sport fuel consumption

I've had the 100pd, and now have the 130pd estate, and the 100pd saloon did get better slightly better mpg. We almost always use our car around town for mostly short journeys :( and the mpg will average around 33mpg - 35mpg depending on how long the journey is, and whether we're using AC or not. But...

Re: Finaly got my car just a few questions

A friend got his Golf key cut by someone on ebay. You just take a photo of your key and email it to the person, they make the same cut, then there's a way of programming your own key from your other key and the car. (not sure how, but there's probably a guide somewhere).

Removing estate roof bars?

I'm wondering if anyone's done this to "smooth" the look of the car, and also give it a miniscule MPG increase? Are they easy to remove, do I need to cover anything up if I did remove them? How do I remove them? I've never , ever used them, so I could remove them until I actually need them...

Just make sure you get a bosch one - there are others available and they aren't as good (in my opinion).

Re: Gutless TDi

My old one was like this until I replaced the MAF sensor. These are easy to replace and are just after (air flow wise) the air filter box - if you unplug it and drive around and the car is better then this confirms it's a dead MAF sensor.

Do your back / side ones stay in? Mine don't - and they haven't given me any clips for these. Maybe it's different for estates?

Same thing happened to a friend - he thought the turbo was gone - turned out it was just the throttle position sensor - which he was able to replace cheaply from a scrapyard.

Looking at a MK3 Golf tommorrow...

I'm looking at a Mk3 Golf tomorrow for a friend - 3dr, N reg, original alloy wheels, cd player...

Not sure what model or engine, but I think it's done 100k.

What should I look for?

It's £695 from a trader nearby and looks pretty unmolested and seems rust free...

Thanks

I'm ready to buy today - perhaps someone just needs to phone - say there'll be 4 sets ordered - any chance of an extra discount?

Was told bhp is the same 163 - just lower torque by about 15nm?
My feelings are that it's a gentler curve so that it doesn't apply as much power at the lower revs.

I've had mine done, at roughly the same mileage... is yours the 6spd box? I can't say I've had any problems with the clutch so far. I went with the gentler remap, the performance seems the same up to 2000rpm, after that it goes like a ROCKET!
