Reason I ask is I had same issue on my 2011 and it was the thermostat that sent coolant to the gearbox that was broken. Cost £15 to replace and did it myself

Hi all, I’ve tried to search for the answer to this but can’t see anything. I get the smell of fumes in cabin when in traffic and have noticed my 2011 Passat 2.0 TDI 140 has the same hole in the intake.

Not sure if I should cover it up or not to stop the smell…?
