Re: My B3 GT!!
Good luck with the conversion! If you also fancy having a go at converting or recovering the rear seats to match the fronts I have the matching rear mk 3 golf seats laying around that you can have. Where abouts are you?

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings doing my head in!
It's not a difficult job (I've done the loads of time lol!) . The tricky bit is finding a large socket that is a fraction smaller than the cone shell so you can drift the bearing shell into the drum/ disc. If the garage does it remember that the parts are cheap... A tenner a side... So you know whet...

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings doing my head in!

Got new tyres on and the whole howling noise from the rears has gone. I don't just mean tyre noise ... The sound was much louder than that. G...

Re: Rear Wheel Bearings doing my head in!
OK fitted a new set this morning - SKNs so supposedly a bit better quality than the GSF ones. Followed the 'Beetle' method above but still can't seem to get it right.... If I back off the nut until I can feel the bearing has just stopped binding, and then a further 8th turn, there is what I feel is ...

Help - Where can I buy a bottom hose for my 1.6TD?
Stealers told me today they are discontinued and GSF/ECP don't sell much in the way of rad hoses. I think it's part number 357121051A - nothing on ebay either, one on ebay.de but doesn't look like they ship to UK. There must be a UK seller surely? One of my oil cooler hoses went recently, and manage...

Re: universal remote locking kit???
OK for Glynn and anyone else who has the kit he bought (see first post in this thread) here is a guide to wiring up the locking. Other kits will prob have different colour wires or diff order so if your wiring diagram is not exactly the same as the one below then this guide is probably not going to ...

Re: Roar/Hum/Rumble Coming From B4 Front End
you don't mention the tyre brands, believe me, non proprietary tyres are generally a big problem on these motors Why is this a problem? Please tell me more! I posted on the forum not so long ago about my rear bearing woes. But the noise is definitely worse with the wheel/tyre combo I am running rig...

Going 5 stud on the rears is pretty simple as the disc has the bolt threads in it. Fronts need hubs changed to 5 stud.mappy wrote:Im wondering if it's worth getting standered b3 rear disc conversion or going for the golf gti 5 stud conversion... Opinions please!

Out of interest.. what is it that freezes? is there anything that can be done to fix or reduce this? Mine does this and its such a pain!! The final part of the cable where it attaches to the caliper has a bend that points downwards and moisture gets in and freezes up. As Glynn says it is prob poss ...

Mk 2 Golf yes, B4 yes. Not so sure about Mk 3 golf. Passat and Mk 2 golf handbrake cable position makes them prone to freezing up in winter. I'm sure other guys on here can give you other options. Can also try Club GTI and see what conversions have been done for Mk 2 Golf as that would work E.G. I t...
