FREE PARTS

Due to the departure of my wagon I have some parts to give away. As I have gained so much over time from this forum, hopefully I can help some others out. I really do not want to post anything so collection only I'm afraid, and I understand it will limit things, sorry. Front bumper, power steering p...

Re: Carry on or scrap?

I would agree with previous two.None of the niggles are major. Oil cooler is an easy swap, as are rear shocks.EGR valve, pull the vacuum pipe off, block it with a bolt, a la Gazwould, buy a complete j&r driveshaft off ebay. As Gazwould suggests, take off the metal inner door panels and reseal, o...

Re: bye bye baby

GONE :( but the lad who bought it loves it so it's not so bad. It looked a real classy car as he was driving away, strange, you never see yourself in it so don't know how good it looks. He didn't seem to think the vibration was anything, maybe I was just being pedantic? Oh well, onwards and upwards,...

Re: bye bye baby

I already have a set for the a6 Aidan, and I won't be leaving the forum, I hope I can still have an input for some of the newer lads.

:(( :(( On ebay at last, maybe my best car ever. The ebay number is on classified on this forum. As always I'm more than interested in any comments, good or bad but constructive if you can. The a6 will have to become something special to give me the same buzz, especially in the braking department, I...

Re: new diesel smoke limits in mot from 20th may

I don't know what is up with some testers. I think we all know that we can make a bit of smoke in an old diesel, the ministry don't encourage us to fail vehicles, quite the contrary, but you know how it is with some blokes. Also, quite a few proprietors want work from MOT's so it pays to know the re...

Re: MOTORISED FLAP PROBLEM

Can't remember the number James, but it did clear.I'm going to put on a replacement egr/throttle body, I'll let you know how it goes. The lad at the breakers said it's the most common fault with the BRE engine.

Re: MOTORISED FLAP PROBLEM

No, when you take it apart James it's in the fixed open position and there's little to clean around it, the crud starts a bit further in past the motorised butterfly.

MOTORISED FLAP PROBLEM

Hello, I'm a refugee from b5.5 forum. Recently bought an a6 with a BRE ENGINE and was wondering if any of the b6's have this engine. If so, on mine I had the inlet side off to degunk it. Upon reassembly, no power at low revs, plenty of black smoke and the diagnostics are pointing to the flap motor, ...

Re: jealousy?

Thanks Mr passat, but that has been done  As for the seats, they are half leather, same colour as the passat rears, but they are more padded that the passat highlines and the back and side bolsters are more pronounced, there is also a drawer underneath and electric movement buttons. All you nee...

Re: jealousy?

I have been lucky with this passat. I've spent plenty of money on it, by choice, and anything that has HAD to be replaced, i.e. clutch and dmf, gearbox bearings, driveshafts and the like are just part of owning a second hand car.I've enjoyed modifying it, upgrading various components and in truth it...

jealousy?

I'm still using (and enjoying)the passat whilst doing a few little jobs on the recent a6 acquisition. one of the jobs was removing the inlet apparatus and de gunking it, replacing all with new gaskets and re-assembling. Went for a test run and I'm sure the passat was smiling !Sure enough, no power a...

Re: Dilemma

The actual hexagonal shaft, it was his brothers car and the shaft was really quite rounded off. Also the driven sprocket was less than perfect. It's a sump off job and balance box taken off for resetting, big job but he made it look easy, he's a cracking mechanic. As in that article, the car went fr...

Re: Dilemma

I was aware of this problem Gaz, and also injector problems. Funnily enough my mate Will did one in his garage a couple of weeks ago and we were perusing the shaft. I did read quite some time ago about a modification, I will try to find out more. Either way I think it will be one of those jobs to be...

Had the a6 for a couple of weeks now, oh it's a bre engine Gaz. Went down to Cornwall the day after buying it and realised that I am now officially old !!! The journey was so much easier than in my passat :The car isn't any fun at all, although it is deceptively quick,it's completely anonymous to lo...

Re: Interior ?

It's easy to convert to electric seats, either highline or a6 c6 fronts if you can get matching rears from a passat estate. Like mini says, a three spoke steering wheel to which you could sew a perforated soft leather cover from aliexpress. T akes a couple of hours but feels great and looks good. It...
