Re: Worn 6 speed gearbox linkage repair
Blimey, started something there!
For future reference, to drop the linkage from the ball, just remove number 29, its a bolt with a plastic clip on top, then the arm will drop, there's enough room to remove the old cup, replace and peen over the housing.
I did look Gaz, just getting old

GEARBOX REPAIR KIT
I'm doing a job on the passat I sold last year, gearbox linkage repair kit.Has anyone done it? If so, any tips to ease the job? I've removed gearbox mount from that side and taken out the old cup, but there is a locking flange integral with the cup housing and it's peened over in 3 places, how to st...

Re: Drivers seat base
Might be easier sourcing a used pair for the front, I'm assuming it's leather being a highline. Audi a6 c5 will fit if there are no highlines knocking about.

Re: wiring instructions for rs6 Recaro leather seats
Whenever I have upgraded my seats in my various cars, including my present one, I have bought a Kufatec loom off the bay and never had any problems. I had heated and electric a6 seats in my last passat and at the most you may have to swap seat connectors, though I didn't even do that. I also changed...

Re: Opinions sought.
Having had both, the a4 is a much more refined drive, but, will undoubtedly come with it's own problems some of which will be be common to passat owners, i.e. door locks windows etc. There is as much if not more scope for modifying and most would think the passat a much more dated looking car. Much m...

Re: Brakes dont bite like i'm used to.
Did you have both cars before the pad change? If so, how did they compare? Changing to the a4 discs, 312mm will still leave you with the same caliper, although you have the same caliper on your two cars at present. If your discs are good and calipers are operating cleanly, the only difference between...

Re: Interior ?
When I did mine, the kufatec loom had fitted connectors for the heated seat switches, an earth wire and live for the 75 terminal under the drivers dash and an inline fused wire out to the seats that obviously split along the way for the seats.I think your 2 with pins and 2 loose ones should be easy ...

Just a merry Christmas to all on 5.5's,never forgetful of all the knowledge I gleaned, and help I received, and a fair bit of humour. I am enjoying my a6, but they're the same as passats in that they have their inherent problems, just more electrical than mechanical. This is the best forum though by...

It's held on by the same sort of screws that hold in the inner wheel arch, have a look then you can get some off ebay.

Re: Passat estate sport 4motion 6 speed - do i buy it?
I would have thought £1600 was too much. Front arch scabby,(new wing), rear arch scabby, much more trouble and the 4mo's have much more underneath at the back to corrode, plus, and this is only my opinion, there's too much power lost with the 4wd system for that size engine. You'd be better off with...

Make sure when replacing your NEW belt, that you have a 16mm spanner that will enable you to fully relax the tensioner, another pair of hands on it is helpful 'cos that last3mm is a illegitimate child.

Re: Intermiitent starting problem
That switch is a complex beast, with many connections and various combinations of potential failure, especially as some of the contacts carry a high current. It could very well be that yours has an intermittent fault with the internal connections that send current to the solenoid on the starter. I ...
