Re: sick old passat
Agree with the above. If you can find a garage with a smoke machine, all should be revealed, an air leak is the most probable

Re: Hi guys, newbie lookin for big power!
To get anything much above 240 bhp is going to need massive internal engine work [rods / big turbo / injectors / fuel pump / charge cooler, etc.] After you've done all that, you're also going to need a new diff [Quaife?], and about 6 miles after that, you'll be in for a new gearbox / half shafts etc...

Most garages now either have, or have access to a smoke machine, which make detecting leaks a dododle

Re: Re-mapping what's the best?
Being based in Jersey means that we have no access to a rolling road [because there's only one on the island, only for use by our equivalent of DVLA] That's why we went for Revo. We always do a full Vagcom diagnostic before installation, and won't install when there are existing problems. However, R...

Re-mapping what's the best?
I am involved in a small independant VAG specialist garage. Some years ago, we were shopping around for the best software re-mapping system, and settled on Revo. We've done over 100 re-maps now, with very few problems, and I can thoroughly recommend them. However, we're looking to expand into the wo...

Re: Hi guys, newbie lookin for big power!
Friend of mine has a Skoda VRS 1.8t, Revo re-map, Milltech exhaust, BDA airbox. Runs about 220-230 bhp. I reckon that's about your lot from a 1.8t without internal mods. That lot will cost you about £1k. Dump valves are a complete waste [literally] of time. Nice, I do like Octavias, out of interes...

Diverter valves; oe are plastic, aftermarket ones are steel. Oe is not always the best option......K series head gaskets, for instance!

Re: looking for a b5 or b5.5 passat then check this out
I'm a partner in a small garage in Jersey specialising in VAG based cars. Most common engine related problems on 1.8t engines seem to be; diverter valves, air mass meters, and coolant temperature senders, all of which are pretty cheap to sort out. I can recommend TPS on 02380 627540 for bits, and Re...

Got them, and fitted rears, fronts to do. Unfortunately, I had to butcher one of the steel strut holders [under the bonnet, so waiting for a new pair before I fit thr fronts. Quality looks good though

For all bits, try TPS on 02380 627540. Thet're very helpful, you'll need your chassis number

More idiot B4 questions.
Just ordered a set of hottuning coilovers for my B4 Estate. Any hints or tips on fitting them? Also, I've heard that T4 5 POT injectors are a good performance boost [along with other stuff, blanked off EGR valve, fitting intercooler etc]] does anyone know which model/year T4?

a4/b4 interchangeability
Friend of mine has a 96 Audi A4 which has just suffered terminal engine failure. It's on coilovers, with a nice set of 18" BBS wheels. Does anyone know if Audiu A4/ Passat B4 suspension /brake set ups are interchangeable?

Re: B3/B4 panel interchangeability
OK. going to give this a go by using B3 front wings from my donor car. I'm going to plate over the swage line, and then fill with a skim of wag. As I'm going to "woody" the sides, should be fairly easy to hide. Also, just ordered an intercooler as the first stage in "waking up" y...

B3/B4 panel interchangeability
I've got a reasonably nice tdi B4 estate, but always prefered the front end of the B3. a B3 estate just fallen in my lap, but it's petrol, and a bit tatty. I was wondering how much [bonnet /wings / lights] is a bolt on swop between B3/B4's?
