Core springs are in the turbo and these are not in an mot inspection and I'm taking your car isn't turbo so it will be the coil springs. Halfords mechanics know less than me and I know jack! Joint prob around 60 quid I'd say. Get on a car park or similar open space drive in circles on full lock and it will sound awful like a clattering noise

Gave the wagon a polish with some Muc Off miracle shine which was given to me to try. Probably not as good as the professional products some of you use , but I'm happy with the results to be honest . Not bad, My 1.8t averaged 71.1 @ 75mph with cruise control on, dropped to average 50.2mpg near home put £40 in tank got me Bristol to Portsmouth and back to Bristol cars just under quarter tank left.
