I used a specialist broker for my Impreza and he was happy to match my NCB on a special second car policy (limited mileage etc). Just need to phone around. My Passat now costs me more to insure than the Subaru.

My old B5.5 used to idle slightly high or fluctuate before I changed the CTS, was never more than 100-200 rpm over though.

Have you got a TPS local to you, price is probably similar and you can just walk in and buy it at your convenience along with genuine filters etc. If you're anything like me there's never anyone home on a week day to receive deliveries. Probably worth phoning first as some are funny about selling to...

And back on subject, I'd Seriously consider the Fiesta ST if it was me, supposed to be a cracking car and very tweakable. See out of all the cars the Fiesta seemed to have the least efficient engine, it's a 2.0 lump in a small car yet 0-60 is about 8 seconds, maybe it's got a lot more to give Sent ...

19 years old now, needs looking after as rust is becoming an issue on all of them, spent a lot of money having rear arches cut out and replaced. The P1 is great car but prices on all the limited editions have got silly, seen 22Bs up for sale for Supercar money but don't think they're selling. Mines ...

Have you got something plugged into the cigarette lighter or 12V socket in the boot? I bought a cheap 3 way adaptor a few years ago and tried it in the front of the car for charging 2 phones and a sat nav and then ran it from the boot to the back seat for my kids to use, each time I plugged it in I ...

Re: Rear Subframe bushes
The first thing to do is order 2 new bolts as they're bound to be seized and make sure you have access to an angle grinder. Jack car up, place on axle stands, either compress spring or do it the less safe way of putting a Jack under the hub, remove outer arm bolt, lower Jack and remove spring. Grind...

Re: New Fuel Pump Humming
Not a Passat but changed the pump in my Impreza and the new pump is notably noisier than the old one although once running you can't hear a thing over the exhaust so doesn't bother me. Could be the old one was quiet because it was failing, new pump is running better hence noisier.

Re: B6 intermittent steering fault
General opinion is to avoid the emissions update as it causes more problems than it fixes. Have you checked the Power Steering fluid level, if there is a leak it could be being starved under cornering but if the electric pumps are anything like the mechanical ones they tend to let you know when they...

Put an ECP one in a Beetle once and it lasted about 6 months, put a genuine one in it and it's been fine ever since, that must be about 3 years ago now.

I've got 2010 2.0 TDI 140 with the CR engine, bought it on 58k 2 years ago a up to that point it appeared to have been good with just normal wear and tear stuff, it's now on 93k and to date have had the following issues, 2 different exhaust gas temperature sensors fail at £140 each, rear suspension ...

Yep, great when they're working but think the guy on here kept a spare engine to swap in and out, every job seemed to need to have the engine out as there's no room to work on it.

Re: Rear Subframe bushes
Yep, they actually sit square in the sub frame now. You can see why the bolts rust in, the groove that the concentric washer sits in allows water travel down the bolt, the outer bolts came out fine. Lots of copperslip used on the new ones.
