It will be where you had the stereo surround panel off I expect, did you disconnect the connector to the passenger air bag warning light when you were changing the stereo?

Just needs the code cleared and it will go out.

Re: Fitting a new Actuator

On a 2010 CBAB engined car it can be done with the turbo fitted but the guys that did mine did have the advantage of having a ramp. I looked at it myself and willingly paid someone else to do it.

Re: Key fob refurbishment

My lock button packed up, the microswitch had come away from the PCB, they are not designed to be repaired, took a lot of work with a scalpel and Stanley knife to separate the translucent bit of plastic from the black outer of the fob, managed it in the end and the key now works but it has become my...

Re: Part number for turbo actuator

Pretty sure you can buy it as a separate part as I had mine changed by my local VW specialist, think it came from TPS. I looked at changing it myself but looked an absolute bum of a job so paid someone. As stated above, if you suck on the vacuum line from the N75 Valve on the bulkhead to the actuato...

Have a read here regarding rear tyre wear, may just be an alignment required or inner arm bushes.

Not sure where it is in the tank but could it have been the electric lift pump running, bit of bearing whine until it warmed up a bit, alternatively, as it has a tow bar, could it be a relay buzzing away in the tow bar electrics?

Re: car will not unlock?

Well I can confirm the white piece of plastic is bonded to the lower half of the fob 90% of the way round, I worked my way round with a scalpel to separate the lower fob from the plastic cover and slid the PCB out, the bottom switch which controls locking was only attached by 1 of its 4 pads, quick ...

Mines the same, has to be running at full speed to cool the interior despite a re-gas last year wheras my 21 year old subaru blows cold air almost instantly and hasn't had a re-gas since 2011. Mines a highline with black leather and have noticed the seats radiate a lot of heat for a long time if the...

Re: car will not unlock?

Thought I'd resurrect an old thread rather than start a new one. Need to pop one of my keys apart to look at the lock switch, the other 2 are working fine. Is the bit of white plastic bonded to the black case all the way round or just down the sides, has anyone found a good way of separating the 2 p...

Cooling fans run on after you turn the ignition off when the DPF is doing a regeneration, have you been doing more short journeys than usual, I usually do 100 miles a day but I've only used a tank of diesel since March and mine has recently done a passive regeneration for the first time in 4 years a...

I've done less miles in the last 3 weeks than I'd usually do on a one way trip to work, the half a tank that's in the Passat will still be there next month I expect, the Subaru hasn't been further than in and out of the garage for the last 4 weeks.

Trying to locate a 17" wheel and tyre on the hub in the dark and then trying to get it to stay there while you spin it and try and get the bolt in isn't easy, especially when in trousers and shirt for work. Just need to get a new tyre and try and get the wheel straightened now, that was an expe...

Wheel Bolt Thread Size

Following an argument with a pot hole yesterday and subsequently trying to change a wheel in the dark due to this: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49023683601_21b9a9b885_b.jpg I'm going to get one of the those threaded bars to help align the wheel on the hub as was supplied with the B5.5 as stan...

I've got one from the ignition switch, if I push on it while driving it stops, I've resorted to wedging a bit of folded cardboard behind it which has helped.

Did mine a couple of years ago closely followed by Sensor 1, they're doable on the drive but would be a lot easier on a ramp. Not cheap unfortunately.

Re: P0299 turbo underboost

When mine did this it was the actuator, pull the pipe off the boost control solenoid that leads to the actuator and suck, if you can draw air through like I could its the actuator. Think my bill with an MOT and a genuine actuator kit was around the £400 mark.

I went to an 07 Civic Diesel after my B5.5, I must have had a duff one, used oil, clutch at 80k, front struts at 85k, electrical gremlins, rattly engine, plasticy interior and then started rusting all along the top of the windscreen so got shot of it and went to what has been a relatively trouble fr...

Are your sure it's the EPB and not the Brake assist, i.e. is it when you've actually applied the EPB by pressing the button at a junction or traffic lights or is it just when you've held the car on a hill using the foot brake and then the hydraulics hold it unto you try to pull off?

EGR valve, just replace with a bit of vacuum hose from a motor factors, probably worth buying a few metres and replacing any hose of that types as they will all be starting to perish by now.
