Re: Alternator Clutch Pulley Thread Direction

Great vid cheers. I'm struggling to get my head round this now, at approx 5.40 when he removes the pulley, there's no bolt? He just undoes the pulley. Does the torx bit not undo a bolt? And even though he hand tightens the pulley in a clockwise direction he tightens the torx anti-clockwise.. I shoul...

Re: Tyre Wear??

Morning chap I just wanted to say that I enjoy your posts, I always look out for the part where you mention living in 'deepest rural France' or similar, if you don't mention it I feel sad inside :D Tyre wear can be down to many factors as I'm sure you know, tracking, driving style, inflation, contro...

Re: Alternator Clutch Pulley Thread Direction

Thanks man, I've done more research and it does appear that it's reverse thread, but even with a breaker bar it feels like I'll break the tool.

I have an electric windy gun, but may need to take to local garage.

Alternator Clutch Pulley Thread Direction

My mate has just picked up a 05 pd130 same as mine, the previous owner had a new alternator fitted but the pulley is too wide (6 ribs), and the belt is shredding on it. I've got a correct width one to fit, but am struggling to get confirmation of whether it's a reverse for thread (so I would need to...

I had the same thing when I replaced mine, I did some Googling and it's all good. I cannot remember the reason for it, but if you Google about you should find the answers etc.

Hi

The easiest way is to use Tapatalk on your phone, it's as easy and select and click, just like the old days.

Gear Stick Gaiter Colour?

I'm looking to replace my gearstick gaiter, and I want to ensure I get the right colour. My interior trim code is LM which is dark grey in colour. I have found a few on eBay but they are generic colours, but wanted to know if anyone has experience in buying the correct one... Cheers Sent from my SM-...

Yes they are identical, I have an AWX and my box went last year, I put an FHN box in (replaced the oil at the same time too). All good.

Re: Remote Central Locking Locks, but Not Unlock

I had the same issue with mine, every so often I would have to open up the remote fob and flex the metal prongs that make contact with the battery. Used to work, then in the end I replaced the fob as it was the soldering that has failed and all is well again. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2021081...

Re: Front Suspension Bushing Replacement

I wouldn't worry, mine has a 5 there.

If you're doing the job yourself, make sure you search the forum for tips etc, loads of info on here. Main thing is the pinch bolt, needs lots of penetrating oil and patience

You will need 16mm balljoint then. There's 2 different sizes 20mm and 16mm.

Re: Annoying Brake Pad Rattle fixed...

I had to clean the pad guides with a small file to enable the pads to slide freely. Used a little Cer Tec brake lube too. I am not an aggressive driver, so really not worried about heat build up etc. If the rattle comes back, I'll take a look and see if they have melted. Sent from my SM-G770F using ...

Annoying Brake Pad Rattle fixed...

So, I've been plagued for a while with bad brake pad rattle (think constant rattle). Tried bending the three tangs outwards, some success. But when I tried again this time one of the tangs snapped (very brittle metal) so I thought outside the box and used some old 3mm silicone pipe over the tangs. A...

Re: The Correct Power Steering Fluid to use

Too light steering is taking away road feel. At least I never liked that. And as I mentioned above, you don't know if seals in pump and steering rack are designed for that other type of fluid. It might start to leak after year, it might not. With correct fluid at least you are safe not to damage so...
