Re: Private land + speed hump damage
I think there is a legal height that speedbumps can't exceed, and as long as they are within that height, you probably haven't got any comeback on them. I'm pretty sure the manufacturers of those would have thought of the possible legal action for damaged cars before making them. If they had simply ...

Re: Aux belt snapped
Haven't seen the bill yet, but he's a mate and won't rip me off for the hell of it, if he says is took him 2 hours then that's fine by me, and he did it as an emergency, so I'm happy with that. Truth is, it was well mangled, he had to remove other pullys to get all the remaining bits of belt out and...

Re: Aux belt snapped
OK, garage have fixed it, reckon the tensioner is fine - total cost £96.12. Not too bad I don't think, the belt was pretty well mangled and he had to take various pulleys off to release the shards of belt

Aux belt snapped
Hi All, Driving home on the m/way last night and my drive belt snapped. pulled in within a few hundred yards and had a look, the belt is very dead, but car still runs so I don't think there is any more damage then that. AA towed me to a local garage I use, but what I want to know is how much do you ...

Re: Crappiest car you have ever owned?
1999 Renault Megane, my first car and had no end of problems, split manifold, cambelt snapped etc.
The main problem was how had they were to repair, took us 5 hours to get the manifold off to weld it becuase it's at the back of the block and near impossible to access.

It's never the right time mate, our two are 7 years apart and that's too long, my advise would be to get it out the way so to speak, it's loads easier second time around.

Door dropped
Hi All,
Just a quick on hopefully.
My passenger door on my B5 seems to have dropped by about an inch. When I close it it closes fine, but with a clonk where it moves back into place.
Any ideas what has caused this, I've had a look around the hinges and they seem fine.
Thanks,
Ed

Re: Average Speed Cameras
I heard that as long as you pass the 2nd camera in a different lane to that of the first, you won't get caught.
I've not tried it, and please don't take my word for it though, this is just hearsay.

God, these people are why ebay is now so poo. If you have a minimum you want, put a reserve on.
Half the problem is ebay themselves and their extortionate fees though, can't really win.

I used 800, 1200, 2000 in that order, working each grade a different direction, then polish with something with a cutting compound like G3 polish.

Furthest I've been was the Dordogne. My mum lives near Bergerac, so we drove down the coast last year, camped for a week on Ile de Re and then drove to mums for a week. Looking forward to going again but the wife isn't keen.

Re: How many miles do you get to £20
1.9 B5 AFN 110hp - On a week to work (40 mile round trip on Motorway) I think I'll do about 150-160 miles on £20.
When delivering food around town, probably more like 120 miles.
I do have a slightly heavy right foot, but coast a lot.
Hope that helps.

Hi All, My car was broken into on Wednesday night, drivers window smashed and a nice big bend in the bit in between front/rear windows. What I want to know is, is this part easily replaceable.
