I have found that the large peg that goes through the glass can sometimes pop out when you are pushing the smaller peg through,So i have used some gaffer tape to hold it in and then pierced a hole through it so you can push the small peg through. still a bit fiddly like with the wire in the way.

Oil catch/seperator tank
Am in the process of fitting an oil catch tank to my b5.5 tdi,What i need to know is do the vent lines i use have to be of the same bore pipe work as origional pipe?. Also do i return it back to the turbo inlet pipe or use a small filter on top of the catch tank? :-? What have you guys done-any pics...

Get some split pins, these are plentiful and cheap and come in many different lengths .

Dosent lowering any car put added strain on all the suspension components? THats what i have always been led to belive!.I ran a lowered beetle for many years and it was a constant battle with changing balljoints every year.

Well cheapies it is for me then!. I am on stock height suspension and am not going to lower it .So i guess they will be ok. thanks for the input.

Boththe bush and the wheel bearings will cause excessive movement under load ,Cornering braking and accelerating will all cause movement.This will cause uneven tyre wear.

Think i would suspect either wheel bearings or rear axle bushes!

Suspension arms
Am looking to buy some suspension arms for my 05 b5.5 tdi and some companys quote for 20mm balljoint,So was wondering if there are two sizes? What have you guys used?

The one i was looking at is from a trusted company,TDI tuning. Seems to connect to a temp sensor near to the fuel filter.They claim 35% more power and 35% more torque with more mpg as well!!.How can such a simple device work so well? Any ideas?.

Change alternator pulley,Then i think you will find it goes away. If not! then i dont know.

That looks like youre belt tensioner is knackered as well. Same noise my car was making ,I replaced the lot in one go including the water pump and various idlers as well.You can see from the way the tensioner is moving up and down in the video clip that its knackersd.

Well it was for me because i put it into a mates garage and he did it for me.If youre handy with the spanners you could do it yourself i suppose.The complete front bumper has to come off to gain access to all the belts and pulleys. cost me about £350 all inwhich included a new water pump as well.So...

Yep thats the same noise mine made, Just change all the pulleys even the alternator pulley.

Could you not ask your employer for a reference letter to say you had no accidents in 6 yrs? As long as the vehicle you've been driving is not a fleet vehicle used by various people then they should be able to do this for you. Then you could send a copy to any insurance company you get a quote from....

I had a similar noise on my tdi, turned out it was alternator freewheel.Changed it and noise was gone. Hope this helps.

Yeah was thinking new ones really, I know fk are having a sale and audi a4 rear dampers are a really good price at the minute. Will have to look at the a6 dampers then. Thanks for the info

rear dampers.
Am looking to buy some rear dampers for my 2005 b5.5 variant and wondered if the audi a4 suspension is a direct fit. I know they are both on the same platform and appear to look identical to me. any help greatley appreciated.

Thanks will try that,its quite annoying really as i dont really use the back doors other than to get the back seats down. Seems like every month gotta spend more money on it .

Door wont open from either side, The door pin dosen"t move at all when you use the key fob.

Door lock probs!!
I know this subject been covered before, But i got a rear door stuck shut(05 b 5.5 estate) and i need a door lock mech. Are the saloon and estate rear mech the same? cos i think i will have to destroy mine to get the door open :-s . Or does any one know a better way?. All help greatly appreciated :-bd
