golf dash problems

Hi i've been out in my mk2 golf today and the rev counter stopped working along with the MFA,please help,i've taken the clocks out to check the plug was connected properly which it was!so i hope someone has some idea what the problem is so i don't have to pay for an auto electrician to get the thing sorted
